am i fucked if i dont get this
>>8019325I got hired as an artist without knowing any of this, so, no.
>>8019325>>8019329It is really not that hard.
>>8019345what does it mean
>>8019325It's not hard to understand but you can also just use 3D programs for this stuff now so it's whatever
>>8019325It is incredibly simple. It took a few pages of a book meant for children to teach me this shit. For your picrel, visually it is immediately obvious how it works. It doesn't even need the words above it.The room is drawn perfectly in one point perspective, so a line drawn from one corner to the other is also in perspective, so if you make sure that all the squares you draw have their corners aligned with that line, all the squares end up being drawn in perspective. That is, they look right.
>>8019325you're cooked.
>>8019364>so a line drawn from one corner to the other is also in perspectiveare you referring to the diagonal line?
>>8019392Yes.
>>8019393i don't get it. it's just a line, there's no perspective on it
>>8019396hahaha this is such a kino thread you got hear man LOL
>>8019329please dont be the mouths and eyes and ink guy
>>8019325also>it enables you to draw a square tile pattern on the floor the tile pattern isn't even coming from the diagonal line
>>8019396are you confusing perspective with lineweight?
It's fine to not understand immediately. The tutorial you posted is pretty curt. Here's what made it sorta make sense to me: .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnUetGLgo3g&list=PLhSP4Pnh5qmo9R-94G--Oeyk-QgMHfKaF&index=7 .
>>8019404noisn't this is the line
>>8019396>>8019402The line is in perspective, because it goes corner to corner room that is in perspective. The squares are drawn with the aid of line, since you can see that they all have their corners aligned with the diagonal line. The line is needed for you to figure out how long the squares have to be.
>>8019396Linear means that it’s made of lines
Does this explanation help?
>>8019407On this image, draw a line that goes through the corners of another diagonal set of squares and reaches the horizon line. You’ll see. It’s part of the definition.
>>8019414yes this helps a lot holy shit thank you. what's the title of the book? >>8019411>>8019406>>8019415i appreciate you all
>>8019416It's this one. It's got the basics for perspective, figure drawing, composition, etc, all put pretty simply in a book for kids. Even if you aren't a fan of comics, this one is useful for how concisely it explains a lot of stuff.
>>8019325if you can't understand just draw it ur selfdon't just read
>>8019418thank you i found norling and joseph too complex. hopefully this one works
>>8019325not as much as in the past, like before the 2000s when you couldn't just use sketchup or a built in perspective assistant in your art program to aid you you'd be fucked, but perspective is still a fundamental, often ignored. erik olson's entire perspective course in on bilibili, it's like 100 hours long and treats you like a retard who doesn't know shit about anything. i'd honestly suggest you watch it.knowing perspective let's you be precise and add anything to any drawing and know it's correct and fits in that space.drawabox has crippled a generation of artists into just guestimating shit, instead of being able to confidently say they can rotate their box by any arbitrary amount you could ask them and know it's correct they just get their rectangular prism to mostly look right by having it converge to the idea of a vanishing point whether it makes sense or not where they place them in relation to other objects in a compostion.
>>8019421nta but I would strongly recommend drawing your immediate surroundings from multiple angles if you want to improve at perspective drawinghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzg8-njCIm8&t=575sthe key is to identify your horizon line, place your vanishing points (if this is difficult, read how to draw by Scott Robertson for help), and then draw while making sure that everything is scaled properlythe problem with your typical perspective drawing books or YouTube videos is that the classic instruction was originally meant for people who have either spent time doing the pre-req work of constant life drawings or have plenty of mileage and a strong visual memory from copying/studying (it's a similar problem found with constructive drawing textbooks and courses)>>8019439exactly, drawabox is pretty damaging if you aren't actually composing boxes from life in the proper context to make the information stick and clickyou will have an easier time by instead drawing a model/toy car, a plastic toy/model replica rifle, or studying feet, torsos, or heads from various angles>>8019325While perspective is certainly one of the most important fundamentals, I firmly believe people overhype and overrate it while composition and line quality get shafted. On top of that, everyone pushes the same books that teach the exact same thing without realizing they're forgetting the most important part (constant life drawing).
>>8019400bold of you to assume I know how to draw eyes or mouths
>>8019325its based on real life, your room is probably a cube.
>>8019485prespective is one piece of the puzzle, but you will notice that alot of illustration and art doesnt conform to perspective perfectly, just vaguely going towards vanishing points.
