How do you handle Paypal as an nsfw artist? I get paid directly there and it seems like it's a matter of time before they block me
"nsfw art" is tranny coded
>>8020001I wasn't really thinking about it that way but I guess
You don't call what your create "porn" because they have a very different idea of what "porn" looks like. NSFW art is allowed. You can use Paypal on Patreon or Vgen to get paid for hyper horsecock futa commissions.R18 art is allowed.R18-G art isn't allowed (furry, loli, non-con and such)I wouldn't use direct invoices because it's NOT anonymouse despite what some anons will tell you.Always use websites like Patreon or Vgen to get paid because they have special contracts with Paypal and handle all the age verification bullshit for you.
>>8020116what the fuck furry is not allowed? im fucked
>>8020322Paypal stance on nsfw art has always been a complete mystery.I see furry nsfw commissions on Vgen but art like that would not be allowed on Patreon. Both websites are partnered with Paypal.Just keep a low profile and make sure your posts are always behind age verification checks.
>>8020347thanks for the tip, i'll be more careful from now onhow does this dude still have his patreon, tho
>>8019996don't do nsfw, but i hate depending on pp or similar companies, because it feels like the rug could be pulled from underneath me for any or no reason. most problems you'll run into using pp aren't of your own creation, and would easily be solvable by flicking a switch on their end, if they didn't let pajeets handle customer service.
>>8020373I don't know what the guy who said certain art is banned got that info from, you should just assume any and all NSFW art is banned. I have seen zero logic when it comes to what Paypal bans other than the fact that if you use Paypal directly to take any kind of art commission they fucking hate you. >how does this dude still have his patreonPaypal is willing to Partner with certain websites that sell 'adult content', including Patreon. This guy seems to be following all the Patreon TOS (all visibly adult characters, no noncon/distress, no incest) so he's in the clear with Patreon. Furry porn is in no way banned on Patreon. There are hundreds of furry porn creators that have no problems because they all follow TOS and don't make their Paypal account easy to find (commissions only with vetted people, don't make their Paypal username the same as their Patreon name, etc)There's also the fact that Patreon acts as a payment processor itself, an ACTUAL intermediary. When someone pays for your Patreon, the money goes to Patreon directly, then Patreon sends that money to your connected payment processor. It is one of the very few services that does this (others are I THINK SubscribeStar, Deviantart, and a few others that escape my mind probably because they're even worse). The only thing your clients see is that (THEIR NAME) made payment to (YOUR PATREON USERNAME), nothing about your Paypal. So no disgruntled clients can report you to Paypal. Nearly every other service, including ones that tout themselves as "creator friendly" (Vgen, Ko-Fi, etc) dox you to your clients. Yes, even if you use a Paypal business account. Also Patreon has multiple withdrawal options, so you're not forced to use Paypal. You are still very much playing with fire when you use a service as untrustworthy as Paypal so always get your money out of there ASAP and have a backup planned if they ban you/their fraud detection kicks off and locks your account.
>>8019996>I get paid directlyjust don't get paid directly
>>8020373Humanoid body + animal privates is allowed. You can draw any kind of private parts as long as it's part of a humanoid body.
>>8019996recommend using hipolink (russian paypal), they don't give a shit but they do take 13% in fees last time i sent money to russia. they accept mastercard for sure.Vgen also allows direct bank card sales that stays on-site, although they have rules againt rape art, hate art, and lolishota stuff. you're a lot less likely to get your entire bank account funds withheld by vgen though.>>8020001the term refers to anything a social media site or payment processor wouldn't like, including bikini pinup and anything with too much tits or ass. "porn" by definition requires explicit depictions of genitals and/or acts of sexual pleasuring. a lot of vgen artists use the term "spicy"
>>8020809holy fuck this is very informative, i'm actually new to NSFW stuff, so there are lots of things that i don't know yet, thanksssi also made a WISE account as backup in case i ever have any problem with PayPal
>>8022294Glad it was helpful anon, feel free to ask anything else and I'll see if I can answer. I'm most knowledgeable on social media topics compared to this stuff however. I heard that Wise and those other alternatives are usable as emergency backups although I've never used Wise myself. Most of these alternatives unfortunately have similar problems to PayPal (hates NSFW, shit customer service, yadayada) but having them in place as emergency alternatives is still good practice.
>>8022328well, i'm at the very early stage building a following base, so i'm focusing on posting as many finished (good, if possible) illustrations as i cani just don't know if i should do commissions or straight up create a patreon after the stage of getting followersi'm also kinda torn between focusing on fan art and original stuff, fan arts gives me way more likes and stuff
Whats stopping me from just making a sort of a decoy art that i can whip up in paint in 1 minutes and let the client pay for that while i mail them the real art via other means? I'll be drawing sunflowers and dogs and it'll be so wholesome they'd have no reason to freeze me
>>8022348>i'm at the very early stage building a following base, so i'm focusing on posting as many finished (good, if possible) illustrations as i canThat's what you should be doing. It's hard to get numbers with just sketches unless you already have a decent follower count. If you have throwaway sketches/unfinished works you can just lazily color them and they will already be way more viable for posting than they were before. Really all you need is color.>i just don't know if i should do commissions or straight up create a patreon after the stage of getting followersI mean, depends really, do you want/need to do commissions, how much can you get away with charging, etc. I only do commissions via Patreon but it can be a bit convoluted than most people are used to (99.9% of commissioners will only have ever done direct Paypal commissions or stuff like Ko-Fi/Vgen, which is pretty much the same). If you're going to do commissions without a safe intermediary I definitely would not use the same accounts I plan to use to withdraw money from Patreon. If you don't already have pricing figured out, common advice is to take the minimum wage of your area and multiply it by the hours it takes you to draw a typical illustration. So if your minimum is 15 and it takes you lets say 8 hours to finish an average illustration that'd be 120, then any added fees can be applied on top of that. Never draw for less than $10 an hour regardless of how bad you think your art is. If you want to do commissions put together a sheet ASAP and put a link to it in your bio/a pinned post on your account.
>>8022560>>8022348On Patreon: the best time to create your Patreon was yesterday, the next best time is now. I learned this because when I started out, I was waiting to create and advertise my Patreon. I then saw an account with sub par art and only a few hundred followers open their Patreon and instantly get a couple paid members, which made me realize that's what I should have been doing the moment I made my Twitter account. Even if you aren't ready to advertise your Patreon, still create go and make an account right now, since you at least wanna sit on the URL and set up everything for when you are ready.>i'm also kinda torn between focusing on fan art and original stuff, fan arts gives me way more likes and stuffYou can always transition to OC after you've gained a healthy follower base from drawing fanart. Getting a fanbase from only drawing OC is slower, you have to strategize more, be more social, etc. You can instead go the fast route of drawing fanart with occasional original stuff sprinkled in, then later on transition entirely to OC. You will get less numbers when you make the transition to OC because most of your followers only follow you for fanart but a sizable portion will stick around assuming that the original content appeals to them. This is just advice for general "original content". Assuming you mean original characters, you should be drawing fanart of bigger artist's OCs, but a lot of people here really hate the idea of that, so I don't expect anyone to take that advice. (Which is fair, since it is pretty shameless.)
>>8022560If your art is all over the place subject-wise, what would be a good incentive for patreon? Just make it "support me" tier with nothing in it? My process is very inconsistent so I could never record videos, even going layers by layers would be useless
>>8022588Sorry about any typos im phonepost retarddePatrons give you money because they want to support YOU as an artist. Rewards tend to come second. As for rewards themselves...>Alt versions. If you draw porn this is obvious since you can do simple cum/skin color/facial expression variations>Limit anything you post outside of Patreon to around 1080-2k pixels and put HQ files on Patreon. Now you can put one of those slimy "HQ version on [Patreon.com/MYPATREON]" watermarks on everything you post :^)>Polls, pick media/things that you already want to break into/know will do well and put them into polls. Patrons who pay more get more vote power>Patrons suggest concepts/media directly, either for you to consider drawing or add to polls>Let patrons outright make sketch requests if they pay for a high tier. Like one sketch request a month. Can limit this to simple portrait sketches with no revisions. Patreon lets you set some tiers to have a maximum supporter number too>Prioritized commission slots + discount on commissions >Sketches, unfinished works, things you know you'll never post to Twitter. This is separate from paywalling because these are things you would never upload regardless>Project files, leave them as is or make an effort to clean them up. Unless your brand is about teaching art I consider this a 'low effort' filler reward just to have something to post>If you use CSP or Procreate(?) they can record timelapses. Another 'low effort' reward>Lineart, sketches, Ramblings about your process,WIPSNever paywall art entirely unless you're huge. You can paywall it in a way that makes it so patrons see your art earlier but otherwise it only limits your reach. How I have it set up is, whenever I finish an artwork I immediately upload the image, timelapse and project files to Patreon because I've always scheduled my art to upload at the same times, so it's not like I'm delaying posts.Oh also your minimum reward tier should be $5, never go lower than this
>>8022642>If you're a good enough artist you can let people request an art critique/1 portfolio review a month or something>Patreon a group chat feature and a Discord integration so you can make a Patreon only server, but I've seen many creators talk about how they regret making a Discord because it lets them know just how stupid their average supporter is + now you have to moderate it, find people to moderate it, make posts in it, deal with people trying to add/DM/ping you... yeah......>When you get really big you can do what some creators do where they limit commissions to patrons only, and have patrons bid on commission slots which can inflate your commissions to insane prices, and that's before the actual price of the commission itself. Basically acts as another filter to prevent poors/tards from commissioning you so that you're only getting top commission whale $$$ from people who have probably commissioned dozens of people before and know how shit worksoff the top of my head thats it... patreon also has a shop feature and you can even mail physical things to people if they pay for the required tier/give you their info but i dunno anything about that.
>>8022499You can send invoices without title and description. Paypal is a payment processor and nothing more. The sale happened somewhere else and your client knows what the invoice is for, making it pointless to give it a title and description. You are 1000x more likely to get into trouble for a sus transaction history, dodged fees or in your case deception.Paypal will never look at your drawings. You don't use Paypal to do anything except handling the payments.
>>8019996most people who get banned off paypal are in third world countries taking commissions but not filling in any sort of info about their location or making a business account or even having a proper bank to transfer it too. Paypal wont randomly delete your account if they see that you're a business account, they will ask for proof that you're paying your taxes before they do that.
