In 2D/3D you literally cannot fake competence and your experience. AI is really bad at faking those kinds of things the industry actually needs. For example, even to create art for a trashy game like Genshin Impact, you need an army of 3D and 2D artists, and it's simply impossible to fake the ability to draw art like that.

On the other hand, the software dev industry is full of people who use AI to fake their portfolios, skills and knowledge, fake their work experience, use AI during job interviews, and so on. There are plenty of stories about people who landed senior software developer positions at large companies with zero work experience simply by faking their work history, lying on their CVs, and using cheating tactics on interviews (such as using AI during live coding, algorithmic and theoretical questions). It takes a couple of months to learn to program via some random online webdev bootcamp, but it takes your entire life to learn to draw industry-level art.

Unlike software engineers, artists cannot fake their portfolios, because AI hasn’t reached a level where its 2d/3d work is indistinguishable from that of a real artist. You’ll need to attach actual examples of your work in portfolio, which will be used to evaluate you. There are no 3-5 rounds of interviews, theoretical questions, LeetCode problems or live coding like in the software engineering industry. In artist industry at most you’ll be given a take-home test assignment that you can complete over a couple of days in your own time.

As an 3d artist you can just model and animate your own game assets and then vibecode the game logic and code without any programmer and software engineer required.

A handcrafted 2d art for a splash screen for Krita is more in demand by open source projects than some random 1000-line code commit adding a useless feature nobody asked for.

Artists are unironically way more in demand than coders right now. But I hope that 2d art won't become that "next big thing"

the problem is when people with actual drawing experience start slopping to save time and effort. an entire studio could have its reputation ruined by one rogue contractor

All gacha games are trash simply because one day the trans executives will pull the plug because it's not doing as good as Wuxia Wong Tang Clan Shadow Warriors and those that could make change proved they don't want to hold these companies accountable for making offline versions.

That's exactly why I only play offline gacha games, but they're not usually called gacha even if they contain gacha elements and they are japanese/chinese/korean
