>official Spider-man movie artbook>one of the biggest studios in the industry using AI confirmedHow did the staircase/taxi get past any quality control? Do they just hire 1 artist to photobash AI? Will anything change from the backlash?
>>8022141Kek, I thought this was gonna be a “zoom in on these 10 pixels” sort of thing but yeah that’s really fucking bad. These sorts of projects are “too big to fail” unfortunately, they’re going to hit a certain floor in terms of sales no matter what and there’s nothing that can really change that except for slow erosion of the brand over time.
>>8022141What are they even visualising here? A new york street? How wildly creative, and fantastical!... Just look at fucking google maps or something, why generate this redundant shit?
>>8022149To give it the "art" feel. If you had to create art from a real street (even just a straight copy), that would take hours. It took 30 seconds to prompt this, and probably 30 more to refine it. This is why AI will keep winning in the industry. It saves time/money, and consumers will keep consuming slop. They're also learning with each nothingburger backlash that the vocal ones are a minority who can do nothing to stop them.
>>8022141American capeshit is peak goyslop. Nobody cares.
>>8022155>They're also learning with each nothingburger backlash that the vocal ones are a minority who can do nothing to stop them.Games on steam that are branded with the AI label are purchased over 60% less than those without. So I wouldn't say that the backlash is a nothing-burger, the consumer boycotts are a real threat to a product's profits if not handled correctly. The use of AI will probably will make the sales of this book less than what the publisher was hoping for -- and for good reason too; who the fuck wants to buy an artbook full of possible AI slop?
>>8022141As always I blame pajeets.
>>8022141Wh would you even need concept art for this shit?
>>8022172The lesson they're going to learn isn't "don't use AI", it's "don't get caught". And as AI advances, it's going to be impossible to get caught after a while. Things like the OP are just the ones that get caught, and not because AI can't draw those things, but because the user is extremely lazy. All it would've taken was another underpaid artist going over the book, but they didn't even want to pay for that. Just paid some exec's nephew to slop up an artbook and call it a day.
>>8022183>And as AI advancesBut it's not, the required daya for LLMs to advance meaningfully is already far greater than what exists, to say nothing of being poisoned by the deluge of generated outputs. LLMs are a dead end.
>>8022183These companies don't care if they get caught. They are not making products for people to enjoy them. They are making products to brainwash the population. Art is just a propaganda tool. Always has been.
you guys always talk about AI being used in the most garbage mainstream media that was already turned to shit years before the AI stuff came along, and the secret is it was already so shit before AI won't make a noticeable difference other than they'll be able to pump out even more sloppa. Sorry your "job prospects" of being a blizzard inspired artstation render monkey for $50,000 a year are out the window.
>>8022183>The lesson they're going to learn isn't "don't use AI", it's "don't get caught". And as AI advances, it's going to be impossible to get caught after a while. If the backlash and anti-ai sentiment gets bad enough, it may become 'if we get caught using ai, we're fucked, so let's not'. We'll have to see how things proceed.I'm not vocally anti-ai, but anything I know uses AI in a 'consumer facing way', like the visuals or marketing, is not getting my dollar. If I know a company uses AI in one product, I'll know that they're likely to use it in others, and so I'll probably just avoid all their products from then on.
>>8022205>doesn't affect me lol who cares u deserve itThis is why artists won't win. This space is filled with crabs who would celebrate if more artists aren't able to make a living with art.
>>8022183Good morning
>>8022221>>doesn't affect me lol who cares u deserve itYeah but unironically. There's plenty of ways still to make money as an artist on your own without having to become a "concept artist" for Marvel, Blizzard, Riot, Warner Bros, Disney etc. There is no "winning" when it comes to working for these guys their goal will forever be easy and safe profits above all else, and a big part of that is making sure they can underpay you or not pay you at all. Paying you for labor is forever the enemy to them. That will never ever change it just comes with the territory of working for a big media corp. I don't feel any sort of comradery with people striving to go work at these places because no only are they really obviously walking off a cliff, but also because these are people still view these corporations as their "heroes" even after years of mistreating artists and destroying their beloved IPs. They like the current state of things enough to want to support it. They're cool with it. Also I think being a concept artist for a creatively bankrupt corporation also somehow also seems to decay the concept artist's own creativity. I notice these guys pretty much do nothing of their own anymore once they get into these positions and just dedicate themselves purely to making splash art for the next Fortnite skin. A lot of comic artists will go back and forth between corporate and indie work, a lot of them doing their own comics, but all concept artists seem to do outside of corporate work is start youtube channels so they can hopefully dig themselves out of the hole by grifting beginners with "how to get into the industry 2026!" videos
>>8022172It's simple as>Oh, this product has ads/slop in them. I dont like ads/slop. I wouldn't buy these unless it's truly phenomenal or it's one of those FoTM gamesSo hopefully what we get is more slop devs actually trying harder to come up with games that ppl go yeah I'll try that despite having AI disclosure. Just take it as culling the piss and shit games.>>8022183>As AI advancesLol. Yeah sure as OpenAI / Anthropic needs another trillion dollar for their next incremental improvement to their models.>OpenAi is saying they're pausing model development for muh safetyBut in reality they're running out of money.
