>Capeshit is being drawn by an experienced mangaka for a change>It still looks hideous to look atWoah

naoki-sama.... my low incognito resuscitation... help!!!!
Fire JD smith. It's been said often, that capeshit penciling and inking was more often than not fantastic (and dare I say, probably better than most manga?), but the colourists would always fuck it up.They need to make up their minds, is this a B/W comic, in which case they shouldn't really bother with inking and have the colourist render straight from the pencil; or is this a B/W comic, in which case, forgo colours, or keep them very simple and flat, like they did with the older comics, so as to not distract from the quality of the inks.
>>8022664Now let's see capeshit drawn by an actual good artist
>>8022687>actual good artist>good artist>artistWhich one? The guy who penciled it? The guy who inked it? Or the guy who colored it?
>>8022687FUCK (((CAPESHIT)))
>>8022687So much going on. Busy, tasteless.
>>8022664the colouring detracts massively from capeshit, it looks decent with just inks
idk
>>8022687sir that is an illustration
>>8022664The whole top of his head is missing, lol
>>8022775Back in the day it was like 99% of the rendering was inks and then just flat colors on top. Now (well now as since the late 90s/early aughts) it's this bizarre thing where the inker renders the piece then the colorist also renders the piece, so you get this distinctive overrendered look. I don't want to hate on it outright because there's a lot of times where it does look really cool on the glossy paper of a physical comic book, but too often it's this muddy mess like in the OP pic.
>>8022664Very ugly, the x- cuck on the floor is Tom Cruise, lmao
>>8022685Now that it's all digital instead of very different media I see no reason why the inker and the colorist need to be different people. Except obviously efficiency but either the pencil guy or the ink guy should be doing the next guy's job for a page or two sometimes to remind them how this thing is supposed to look like.Or you just accept every issue takes 4 months to make now and rotate 5 artists who do an entire one each, in Europe they just have one guy fuck around for two years while acting fashionably unemployed and sometimes doing a panel and it's still enough for a comic industry
>>8022664head too small relative to body, nose too big relative to face. eyes too small, forearm too long relative to upper arm.artist has excellent anatomy but somehow has /beg/ levels of proportions.
>>8023224>I see no reason why the inker and the colorist need to be different people. Except obviously efficiencyThe reason it's done this way has nothing to do with efficiency. It's because the last time they let each artist fill multiple roles, said artists realized they had no reason to continue to toil under Marvel and went and formed Image. The big comic cabal doesn't want to create their own competitors, so they enforce a worse workflow to prevent the left hand from talking to the right.
>>8022710that looks like yusuke murata's styleif it's really him, then it's safe to assume he did both
>>8023402His point is that Yusuke Murata got to do all parts of the process himself (probably because it's an illustration, not a page of the comic) while the page in the OP has a whole paragraph of credits.
>>8023407that would be this guy >>8022970the one I quoted there didn't realize that
>>8022664It is entirely the "colorist"'s fault (inaccurate title btw cause they're fucking up the values of the picture too)
It's funny how the coloring makes it look so western. If you only focus on the blacks and lines it does look Japanese.
>>8022664Seems like the issue here is the colour artist
