Fucking faggot that doesn't put the skill where the mouth is. Typical art teacher that deserves a shakedown to get humbled.

In minecraft and in art but i'm pretty sure he's been raped by a shit ton of artists and that's why he's a massive faggot.

yeah, most of these 'art and drawing teacher' on loltube werent even a teacher to begin with - they are instructor, a motivator, and on top of that: a content creator. They treat the entire drawing medium like a heckin gains and workout progression instead of... drawing, and feed their audience with talkslop. This is why you get someone like artwood and jazza around.
If you want to see an actual artists youtube channel take a look at michael solovyev watercolor, akihito yoshitomi (eat man author), jane beata, michael james smith, etc

He's one of the good ones. This board always bitches about people teaching art on other sites but end up adopting their methods in the long run. Everyone here is proconstruction nowadays but i remember when they where saying it was a scam before they took the idea from yt channels.

Why is this guy showing up on /ic/ so much recently? Is it paid advertisement?

Teaching the wrong things again. If you look at any "My Art Journey" videos, or you just look at the timeline of drawings made by intermediate or above artists, none of them began drawing with autistic shit like boxes, studies, "manipulated 3D forms" etc. The reason for this is that art almost *has* to be enjoyable for you to tolerate the early period where you're just making garbage after garbage. If you look at the artists who "made it", they all just drew what they liked at the start. Begin by crudely stitching together anime girls from YouTube shorts tutorials, trace for fun, draw endless eyes, draw a character you really liked.

You dont begin drawing at 0, you begin at -100. At the beginning your focus should entirely be on shedding the stiffness and fear that every artist has at the start, you do that by reducing friction and making drawings that you actually get some enjoyment out of. Also share your art. Think about what annoyed you the most in the past sessions, and try to reduce that friction. If finding references during the drawing sucked, maybe you could've done it before then taken a break before drawing. If you got stuck on deciding what brush to use, pick just one that you liked and use it exclusively etc.
Loomis, endless Figure Drawing books, assembly line slop like ArtWod have raped so many peoples spirit and creativity that they can barely draw.
Maybe you can find some soulless Chinaslop tier artists who did begin with studies of boxes or whatever, but that is so rare and exceptional that its not worth even thinking about. During the renaissance and after there were artists who were trained in a very mechanical, stiff, academic way, but those artists lived in an era where there were far fewer distractions than there are nowadays, now art is struggling with a thousand other sources of entertainment, like games/social media. Also those artists had their entirely families/communities push them into art, unlike misc hobbyists nowadays.
>>
>>8027424
Many artists have internalized this soulless box drawing attitude that they cant even imagine enjoying art without doing this shit, they cant image just drawing casually. If you're in this position, the only recommendations I can think of are to reduce all the friction that's annoyed you/you've been ignoring, and go trough all your drawings and look for what actually makes you *feel* something, even if its not the most optimal thing to be drawing/studying at this point. Also sharing art is fun, and seeing art related content that isnt just about "the right method to practice", so something like art streams on Twitch/YouTube, can help change your attitude. Also make your art visible to you. if you're drawing traditionally you can tape it to the wall (very common among the people who "made it" btw). There are several ways you can do this on digital, dont just let it sit in a folder.

If you've been struggling for a long time to get better, it might be demoralizing to hear "stop trying to study so intensely, just vibe and draw", if you do this you wont progress as quickly as you want. But I think if you lose the stiffness and fear around art, when you return to studying more intensely, you'll have a more care free spirit that allows you to get way more out of those studies. You attitude needs to reach from -100 to at least 0, then you'll be much more productive when you begin to introduce some more "dull/dry/soulless" studies. Imagine being able to "Just Draw" for 3 hours in a row?

ArtWod sucks btw, it leads to this assembly line attitude. No one has gotten better from ArtWods videos.

More artists have improved by learning fundamentals such as construction than by going by feel like you propose. Learning the tools that allow you to be accurate with what you want to draw is not incompatible with it having "soul", which is a subjective quality which can't be learned anyway. The only thing there is to learn is the fundamentals and the techniques that build on them, there isn't any secret technique anymore, it has all been figured out and made public since centuries ago.
>>
>>8027489
Artists learn fundamentals after they are already in the habit of drawing, after their attitude towards drawing is already good. Im not seeing a lot of new artists who are creating a ton of art, but simply not improving due to a lack of fundamentals/relying too much on vibes and soul. Im seeing new artists who can barely draw anything, and when they do its boxslop and gesture studies.
Feng Zhu, who runs an Art School, had to make a video called "Just Draw!" where he talks about the changes he has seen in new artists. He's noticed how in the past decade or so, the ratio of artists who like drawing vs dont like drawing has flipped to 20/80, when it used to be the reverse. He sees students' work, and its all stiff and surgical, and the students are barely drawing anything. Its not that they lack any interest, they get books and stuff on drawing, but they can barely draw.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLqWX7onVmU
I dont agree with everything he says here, but he backs me up on noticing this worrying trend. I dont think you should draw bugs and trees and rocks, only someone autistically obsessed enough with drawing to become a pro and run a studio could enjoy doing that.

This post is concerning to me. Did you notice a pattern in how I write, decipher who I am on on other places on the internet/my identity, and are now posting a reference to things I have said or talked about in the past? I can think of some "snibedy snab" related things I have posted elsewhere, maybe I am just being overly schizo.

Depends on where you are on your art journey. If you're still a /beg/, it doesnt matter, Just Draw. Eventually you're gonna have to begin to learn to pay attention to one thing for more than 5 minutes, the further you get the more problem solving/IQ is required. Reading helps with that.

all requests are in bad faith until proven otherwise

so you need to lead by posting work first, prove you're not a street shitting nodraw

Yeah the YouTube videos suck, but everyone knows that's just an ad. If no one can actually speak to the content of the program then why are we posting here. I looked into it and the idea sounds a lot like what people here are asking for, very guided with lots of very specific exercises for each little bit of info. That being said, I personally am burnt out on subscription services and they moved the content to their own platform which I saw some negative reviews for.

It's always the same drivel whenever someone is giving away good info. I've come to the conclusion most posters on this board who know some fundamentals pretend they don't matter to gatekeep the competition. "Just draw" without any information or direction has never helped anyone improve.
>>
>>8027838
It's moreso that "just draw" is the antidote to an overabundance of knowledge and absence of action, which is a common problem for people living in the information age. Yes, if you draw without information or direction, that's bad, but both of those things are so plentiful that it's difficult to imagine many people struggling to find either.

It's pretty good, for what it wants to do. As other anons have said, it's not going to make you want to draw, or spark a love for art. But if your sister already likes the process, it's been a pretty good system to follow to get technically better - YMMV. Also really depends on what you want to draw, as someone who wants to draw my own comics this feels like a good path.

Definitely some downsides, the in-app drawing sucks on iPad, so I just do all the exercises in Procreate. And some of the specific exercises they want you do to aren't good - like, perspective lessons where some of the perspectives given to you don't match up. But overall I've had more positives than negatives

There's a lot of information on the internet, but a lot of it is false or distorted by people who parrot it without understanding the context. So the right information is not really plentiful, and you can tell many posters here could use some theory, no one is saying practice isn't essential too, that's a strawman.
