Whenever I open Xitter or Instagram I encounter a deluge of excellent (non-proompter) artists I never saw up to that point and will never see again. You know, great color handling, line art, intricate composition, the kind of stuff where you can't deny the artist's talent- and I see literally ten of these every time I check my feed. It just kind of becomes buzzing traffic to me rather than a monument of awe. Excellence without exceptionality.

On the one hand, it's encouraging, because it means getting good at art isn't some arcane power bestowed to a tiny exclusive club of people. (The reason your art is shit is because you don't draw.)

On the other hand, it makes it all the more difficult to find a unique voice and get an audience. The competition is absolutely ruthless and seeing so many hackneyed anime/fantasy illustrations is bound to give you fatigue even if they're technically very solid. Yet it truly feels like every single area in art has been explored and the room for innovation is fast approaching zero.

How the fuck are you supposed to approach this problem if you intend to "make it"???

Pic semi-related. It's by Krenz Cushart, whom literally all of you know. I'm just using it to illustrate the kind of quality achieved by a lot of the artists I mentioned.
>>
Trying to reason your way to greatness. You don't have "it". It's over for you.
>>
Everyone knows how.
"story"
Could be your story, or fiction.
Either in a form of youtube video, shorts, instagram reels, tweets, stream, article, video game, children's books, manga, comics, animation, and so on.

Attach a story. Attach a face, a name.

Yep, I'm telling you to get good at writing + speaking + editing + acting + programming + and other necessary skills.

It helps if you're not ugly and don't have an annoying accent.

>How the fuck are you supposed to approach this problem if you intend to "make it"???
If you try to approach this 'problem' your art WILL look like boring bullshit that condescends its audience.
Making art because it's some kind of market niche, some kind of social media supply and demand response is absolutely subhuman behavior.
"Making it" for humans is to be able to find an audience while doing their best work, but THEIR work, not what the market demands. Of course most will never make it in this sense, sometimes because of mediocrity, sometimes because the work they genuinely want to make is just not the sort of thing that will succeed in a market.
Making it for bug people like you is just achieving the trappings of artistic success without any of the dimensions of personal expression and fulfillment. You make no mention of what YOU want to make, just the competitive market value of different work. You talk about 'having a unique voice' like a value prop, like a market differentiator, not like a human quality you just have as a function of your being. Because straight up, you do not have it, you do not have something to say, and you will never have a voice because of it.
Succeed or fail, you will never be worth anything.

helps to be simple minded to a fault.

>Could be your story, or fiction.
This anon knows. Also the reason why Krenz and other le Chinese fantasy twitter faux anime stuff done at a high level of skill but lacking core anime storytelling power is a distraction for the goyim. Pure Japanese Anime is the most powerful style for storytelling and there's nothing you can do about it. There's also the benefit that anime with heavy storytelling ties is inaccessible to pajeets with their proompts.

>Yep, I'm telling you to get good at writing + speaking + editing + acting + programming + and other necessary skills.
Yeah it sounds kinda insane, but ultimately it's true. What other necessary skills would you list here anon?

It all feels like it merges into one uniform homogenized ocean of art because there’s no point in just throwing illustrations out into the void like this.
You’re not Picasso doing groundbreaking things with the medium of painting itself. You are JUST semi-anime artist #747162 doing random anime illustrations with no context like everybody else. No reason to care. What’s the point?
Make your art part of a story or larger project. Then people might have a reason to care.

>getting good at art isn't some arcane power bestowed to a tiny exclusive club of people
But... It is?

indeed, op just doesnt understand that 7 billion is a really big number, there are tens of thousands of artists alive today at that level

>You’re not Picasso
Picasso isn't impressive doebeit. It's just novelty for novelty's sake, also was helpful culturally for the CIA narrative at the time so his slop got pushed hard along with other degenerate art. At best it's a "oh so weird" prop for a horror/unsettling moment.

Ok then pick your own favorite artist. Point is these social media illustrations are basically all the same and there’s nothing that distinguishes them from each other. That’s why they feel pointless
>>
>>8028063
My favorite artists are all based anime artists who do things that have high context and ironically have much higher uniqueness.
I agree that the Krenz social media way is a cope thing, especially if it's inherently based in faux anime and can't transition to normal anime so all the skill is wasted. At least if you're a social media artist who can draw real anime you can actually contribute to projects, with the social media core styles it all stays in social media.

“Social media core styles”, that’s a good way to describe it. I certainly don’t think any of it is BAD art, I like looking at it and it’s nice that it exists. I just don’t think it has much of a point in the grand scheme of things, beyond feeding back into its own ecosystem

I knew perspective was just a meme

7 billion people aren't all trying to become artists; even that pool of "people who spend at least some time leaving marks on a surface in pursuit of some kind of artistic vision" should be much, much smaller. Still obviously huge, but not billions upon billions.
>>
>>8028293
it's not, he just vibed it relying on his fundamentals
it does look off though not enough to be blatantly wrong
