Do you have to commit 100% to being a porn artist to make it? Every porn artist I follow doesn't draw anything other than porn, even if they're comfortable enough to do anything else, is the lifestyle that demanding to stay afloat?
Plenty of people make it doing non-porn. Just go through /r/comics and check all the patreons of the top posters.

Most people follow you for one or two things and will not give a fuck when you draw something else. If a dude likes, say, one piece, but you draw Spider-Man 80% of the time he'll hibernate until you draw One piece again. The algorithm absolutely hates that shit and will think your posts suck ass, why else would half your followers ignore them.Porn has this advantage of porn fans being open about what they like and retweet, a porn addict will retweet both Nami getting piped and that FOTM transgender Spider-Man getting piped.It's not so much about drawing porn than it is about drawing the same thing, porn is just more polyvalent because anything can be porn.You'll notice SFW artists also tend to stick to their niche, a guy will draw his OC all the time or fanart of the same stuff all the time but very rarely just suddenly start playing random video games and draw fanart of that every three posts.
