The squirrel(?) girl, for example; she's wearing punk clothes, but doesn't really have a punk vibe. Even if you're going for the kind of cheery punk girl, this doesn't really seem to work. Where's the makeup? Where's the edge? Punk/goth relies a lot on contrast visually, so her mid-tonish browns take a lot out of the black clothes. The bunny girl just seems generic, and the cat girl(?) really doesn't communicate much. Heaphones are cool, yeah, but is she a gamer, a musician, what? She looks like she's going to go for a jog or something, but I don't think that's right.Additionally, settei isn't just "standing characters for reference," they're usually posed as well. A character's natural standing pose is also an opportunity for characterization. Posing and expression can tell a lot about a character that a static pose really can't - whether they are confident, shy, combative, ect. Pic related.
