I bought a canvas work at a yard sale on a whim and after bringing it home I found an info card behind the frame. It included the name of the artist and work along with the date it was finished (1986). Out of curiosity I tried to look for any information online about the artist but haven't had any luck learning anything about them. They could just be a small local artist who didn't have many works or weren't prominent enough to warrant the attention but any suggestions to learning about an artist who doesn't have easily accessible information online?

How do i find someone (digital) to give a personal art mentorship 1 to 1 that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I'd really like to start expanding my skillset but I feel like I'm hitting a wall with my self teaching or if not a wall then a massive learning cliff which i cant really push myself over
I'm trying to find a hobby that doesn't involve screens. I'm 30, if I doodle or draw for an hour 10 years straight will I see any improvement at all? Alternatively, I could pick up a language but I'd like to do something that doesn't involve reading either.

At the time I bought it I didn't ask any background info such as where they got it themselves. Best option I think would be to ask them where they bought it and go from there. Much appreciated!

>>8035697Depends what you mean by vibrant. Oils give you the greatest depth of tone and hues because you can mix the most complicated palette. But it's also very labour intensive and requires lots of prep and components like linseed oil and waiting for the canvas to dry before you add a layer. (You can do the Bob Ross method of quick slap on oils but it's really not using the medium to its potential). Acrylics are the most user friendly since they're plastic based. Very easy to the slap on, quick drying, easy to manipulate, very quick to work with as you can just dilute with water. But the depth of colour is nowhere near. Watercolors, Gouache and Aqueous Inks all have their own distinct feel that's a lot lighter. Less depth, less weight, but the brushwork you can execute is distinctive and full of character. It all depends on the kind of work you want to produce. I'd say if you're getting into painting, start with acrylics, it's very cheap and easy to draw with and you can afford to fuck up a lot.

So, like a beg friend of mine told me a perspective tip that a person views the world in a cone shape. If a person views the world in a cone shape then why isn't everything adjusted to match the cone's contours? Also, I'm kind of new to perspective. So I need a video course and some books. I tried reading the perspective made easy book but the instructions of the exercises don't have any demonstration. So im looking for a very good course in perspective.
