I have zero energy to draw. I tried but just couldn't draw for more than 5 minutes, if I continued i'd just create work I'd regret later. I wish I could keep the same focus and energy level to produce good work

if you don't make any bad work you'll never make any good work. "the master has failed more times than the pupil has even tried" or whatever

shitty looking artwork

So what? It's mileage, a few more points in that EXP bar to the next level. You aren't going to get past being bad at drawing to being good at drawing without making some shit.
>>
>>8035958
follow through and finish the bad work. if you stop after 5 minutes every time you won't make any progress. if you're really stuck try reading a book on fundamentals or doing some reference studies for a day or two then coming back. ultimately though, the only you can get better at drawing, is by drawing more, in addition to the book work.

I believe if you think your work is shit, it's more about you than the work. I believe you shouldn't,

And framing it as "you should do a lot of shit work" is wrong too.
>>

its not that he should aim to do a lot of shit work. ovbiously the goal is to push ourselves to be better. but, making bsd drawings is an inevitability of getting good at it, so he shouldn't get crushed over a few duds. if every basketball or football player stopped playing every time they missed a shot nobody would be playing sports any more. getting good at anything is a long process of trial and improvement, but also failure along the way. you have to accept that it will happen, so when it does you keep going and strive to improve, instead of folding and hopping back on league or whatever

There is this image in the thread below with a different message but a nice illustration.
I don't believe she "does shit until". I believe she does love at a different levels of competency.

It reflects how imagination tends to fade with the passage of time and the weight of responsibilities; however, the premise feels somewhat forced, as there are people who continue to use their imaginations even while employed. The only real issue is time, which is why many leave their jobs to pursue their passions once they have the financial means to do so.
