Picrel is literally what doing art feels like while doing a corporate 9-5I understand why so many people are cattle, cause sitting down all day sucks all your energy out.How are you meant to do art after sitting down all day already. Doing my comic for example after work, basically means I was sitting down hunched over the whole day between my boring IT job, and then what I actually care about.I just got a new casual IT job so I should be great to do art for 5 days of the week, but again, I understand why people are cattle dude, 9-5 for 10 years would fry somebody. I'm 23 and I already feel fucked
What worked for me was getting up at 4am and devoting a minimum of 1 hour to drawing/studies/painting. I work from 7am-4pm, and despite thinking I'd have time after work I always ran out of day. So now drawing time is taken on the front end of the, and I've been pretty happy with the routine. If you're working 9-5 and your commute is < 1 hour then getting up @ 6 should give you enough time to eat, draw, and get ready.
I stock shelves at night, and my commute started at 5:30 for a job that began at 10PM. I would come home dragging my ass, but after smoking a bowlful of inspiration, my fatigue would vanish and my mood would find the buoyancy that makes art possible. Then it's a matter of seeing what appears under my pen.https://youtu.be/IhTzisLEroY?is=2hRNzQUBki4LIGVq
I split the day by going to the gym after work, then come back home and drawit helps that my day job is braindead, so I have enough mental energy for drawing
jerk off 5-10 times a day during work and you will come home refreshed and ready to draw
>Panel 1, your mom and dad are paying for your living>Panel 2, your mom and dad are paying for your living>Panel 3, your mom and dad are paying for some of your living, and you are on your first steps of living like an actual human pulling your own weight>Panel 4, you pull your own weightThe childhood of many people maladapt them from thinking that what they do in their childhood free of responsability and economic burden is what gives success in life.Happens in art a lot, most of all to musicians. You thinking you'll make it with art is the pencil equivalent of a garage band that think they'll be the next Nirvana or The Strokes (that also started as garage bands)
>>8035909When you realise that the majority of artists you see online are hobbyists and will eventually retire. And then another generation of artists would replace them. Cycle repeats
AHHHHHH
>>8036298Garage bands make good money.A band can live off their art, especially with a small part time job on the side for some security. But it doesn't matter that one cannot make money with drawing. Important is to never get tricked into thinking an office job is a form of success. Office workers are huge fucking losers. I'm trying to find a different line if work entirely. No sitting.
>>8036298only subhumans "pull their weight", real humans are nobilityyou're literally larping as a plantation nigger
>>8036334shove a water cooler up your ass
>>8036376what the fuck's a water cooler, is that what they call a water boy where you live?
>>8035909what a delusional take
>>8036392how?
>>8036395why are you doing art in the first place?what's the motive?
>>8036398to make a comic people read and enjoy. so to tell stories I guess
>>8036405so you're devaluing your 9-5 job that will give you stability in the future and instead give you more effort to making caricatures on a piece of paper to tell some made up stories that gets you pennies.ok....
>>8036417The most powerful people in the world don't work 9-5s, smooth brain. You are a slave mentally, literally incapable of understanding the power of rhetoric and symbols.
>>8036435how much do you charge for those rhetoric and symbols?
>>8036417Im not >>8036435I'm quitting my current boring IT job yes. Everybody else in my field just works, and works and works. They dont get more time to themselves, just more and more responsibilites.I quit my current job (finish 9th of Oct), and am gonna spend a few years trying to break into the comics industry.I'm only 23 anyway, either I try now to make a living for like 5 years, or I'm a goy slave for the rest of my lifeI can always get back into IT anyway, and theres a few casual IT jobs im looking at right now.Is that unreasonable?
>>8036435also based
>>8036435The most powerful are born into wealth, tbqh They have resources and education from the moment they are bornI do agree about slave mentality, tbf >>8036417>stabilityLmao, are you keeping up with the layoffs?
>>8036447>I'm quitting my current boring IT job yeswell if you're happy with that, then good luck>spend a few years trying to break into the comics industry.be ready though, this is not as simple as you think it is, you'll soon find out.>Is that unreasonable?be prepared for the out comeand you're not really honest with this "so to tell stories" thingso... out with it
>>8036447Keep some part time work on the backburner - not for the money, but just because employers will look at that employment gap as if you were a serial killer.
>>8036464>out with it?What else is there? The insinuation I want a shit ton of money? Nah I dont think about money, and I barely spend money on anything.I guess theres "ego" in that it'd be cool for people to say "Hey dude that comic you made was great", but I'm not insane about praise
>>8036478yeah definitely going to, although I got a friend who just lies on resumes and has never been caught, so theres that.Even my current IT job, they just hired me on the spot. Thats small businesses though. Feel bad about leaving, but although its good pay, its long hours
Also companies fucking hate you regardless; They want you replaced by AI whether if you're an artfag or even a skilled wagie. The reason so many poorfags/thirdworlders hate hearing richfags complain is because those fuckers are only at base level existence; the only thing they really know is how to work so their whole value as people is tied to either that or whatever stupid shit they're occupied with (gangs, family drama, etc)
>>8036479>I guess there's "ego" in that it'd be cool for people to say "Hey dude that comic you made was great", but I'm not insane about praise.you sure poured out lots of words there huh?just keep the honest answer simpleYou just want to be famous...right?
>>8036505> You just want to be famousWhen did I say that? I want to make good stories that people like. I'm obsessive about comics and movies, and wanna contribute to the medium, as opposed to just thinking about stories all day. Do you think any of the greats just made art so that nobody could see it? Do you think the great artists and directors thought didnt care if anybody saw there stuff?
>>8036505You are low IQ
>>8035909>How are you meant to do art after sitting down all day already. Doing my comic for example after work, basically means I was sitting down hunched over the whole day between my boring IT job, and then what I actually care about.Getting a standing desk or easel? Draw while standing up straight. If the issue is that you're tired sitting all day, I find that simply standing gives you an energy boost.Alternatively, no need to draw seriously, just scribble. When you're watching tv or doing some other passive activity, just scribble a lot, and save the actual drawing for your days off.
>>8035909Man, firsties whining about their high paying white collar jobs PISSES me off.
>>8036517SAAAR
I have so much money but aaaaaaah
>>8036508> I'm obsessive about comics and movies, and wanna contribute to the medium, as opposed to just thinking about stories all day.so you want to join in the pile of slop content out there that other ambitious artist like you are trying so hard to "make it" in the hopes to be noticed so that everyone starts talking about your OC slop comic/manga No. 294837621 and thinking would go viral that you get to be invited to talk at conventions on how your made up story of another generic slop hero with whatever name you put in it that tells another generic story about this and that so you and others like you will be seen as a genius of this generation....yeah...we've been through with this already for 3 millenniums now....and also realize, you just like the rest of us here are born in the wrong timeline where GPT-6 Astra has just arrived....think and reconsider before you walk away from the current job you have right now...
>>8036542oh your one of those "people". Well I'll stop engaging then. There was a guy in the last /mmg/ who writes similarly to you, who was outed to be a third worlder. Probably you.>>8036509You cant reason with these "people". Look at how he describes art, he cant understand it
>>8035909>"look here is art of artist in their life that can't do art anymore because le evil job! so sad!">done by an artist that does art for a living posting it on social media because the art and the post are already paid forthis has to be the most insulting fucking slop ever
>>8035909nigger literally just work less hard. do the bare minimum for anything that isnt your career.there is pretty much no deskjob that is 100% uptime 365 days a year. the drawing time is there, you just just need to use it
>>8036542Ok doomer
>>8037025Goddamn what a dishonest art
>>8037247it isimagine a rich guy saying being poor is a virtue and that you should be happysame shit
