So... Just fake it until you make it.
Does spending years on /ic/ larping as a professional artist count?
>>8036448>Just fake it until you make it.Yes, but there's a time and place for it. Case in point;>>8036575>Does spending years on /ic/ larping as a professional artist count? No.Faking it, to make it, would be best when in front of potential (and actual) clients, employers, people within the industry, etc.Faking it and playing the role just for yourself can also be good -- it's similar to dressing for the role you want. So acting and living like you imagine a high level artist would, may help reinforce the discipline required for such an artist.Of course, there's also the risk of just coming off as a giant wanker, so like I said; time & place.
>>8036448Or you could just like, draw good art until you make it?What is with this board's obsession with "faking it" or finding "the secret"? Have you considered just drawing good art that people like? What the fuck is wrong with you people?
Fake what, exactly?
>>8036775Generally it's referring to the job role. With many creative jobs, it's ambiguous when someone is ACTUALLY an artist/musician/writer/actor, because anyone can say that they do it as a hobby, but obviously saying your one of these things as a profession means something more, more than just receiving money for the craft, but making a living from it.So by faking it (to make it), you make yourself seem more professional and desirable, thus someone who needs expertise in that area will look for you, because you came across as a professional, thus hopefully making it and being able to live off the craft as well.As a side note, I've seen a number of creatives claim that they are still an artist or whatever, even if it's only a side-gig. That seems like major cope to me. It's a hobby then, one you're passionate about, one that you maybe make a bit of money from, for sure, but still just a hobby.

>>8036803Jesus, all this talk for something that a simple pyw could solve.Someone who draws better though its just their side gig is more of an artist that a full timer who draws like shit.
