is being able to draw a line part of the predisposition/you either have it or you don't thing you guys are talking about? I've been practicing drawing lines for the past month almost 10 hours a day and when I draw something it looks exactly like what I drew last month in terms of line quality.

niggas (niggers) really be doin anything but drawing what they want huh?

kys

what if I want to draw a cube with straight lines?
>>
>>8037524
ruler. alternatively you could use a straight edge. or maybe an object with an edge that is straight, or perhaps a ruler.

you arent trying very hard and you have no technique nor any vehicle for what youre doing to matter.

especially on a little digital pad. artists (technicians) get good at certain shit because at a certain point they dont have time to waste. this includes shit like drawing a reasonable straight line.

how do you do it? consider you body and how it moves. wrist action is for curves. straight lines come from the shoulder. you body is a machine. learn how to move it.

you look like your hanging out scribbling and not paying attention. start paying attention, use your eyes, use your body. fucking mean it.

unironically try drawabox

oh yeah sorry what I meant was what if I want to draw a cube with straight lines *without a ruler*

>>8037532
how do I try harder? I use pencil and paper. are there specific exercises you can suggest? I'm starting to think maybe I need to do some constructed work to better my lines instead of just keep doing it.

>how do you do it?
I have been conscious of using my shoulder when I draw long lines. I should admit the process itself isn't very conscious, I just kept drawing lines hoping they would get straighter. and they did, to a degree to be fair but they aren't straight and clean enough. it's becoming more of a practical problem honestly because when I am trying to consctruct something using cubes I make too many mistakes and the clean lines become too full of scribbles and the sketch becomes unusable too quickly.

>you look like your hanging out scribbling
sorry the image doesn't belong to me I just took it from google. though it's not too far away from the shit I've drawn. just imagine the same level of confusion but with cubes.

>I just kept drawing lines hoping they would get straighter
shit aint magic
you make shit straight or not
>>

thanks a lot.

If you could draw perfectly straight lines without a ruler you'd have made a box that looks like it was made with a ruler so who gives fuck? Use a ruler. The variance of an imperfect creator is what makes art human. Your shitty boxes are closer to the artistic ideal than your perfectly ruled out ones

lame
you can draw however you like, but saying studying and exploring and developing the quality and skill of what you do is irrelevant is just dumb.

free jazz cats can swing and do bepop hard as fuck.

just sayin.

learn to draw how you want.

We're posting in a thread from a guy who claims to have practiced lines for 300 hours in a month. Let's pretend it's just hyperbole and not a shitpost. That's not studying with curiosity and exploration. That's fucking insanity. I have advised someone who never studys lines and only spams freeform doodles to put effort into linework
>>
>>8037516
Line quality is a mystery. Never improved in it after several years.
>>
>>8037622
it's not that insane.

>>8037655
that doesn't sound good. it felt like one of those things you can brute force.

I can feel in some areas I've improved. like my precision definitely improved. the overall look of the lines didn't which bothers me.
>>
>>8037516
You're not thinking about the application of a line
>>
>>8037696
I can be kind of accurate, depending on the time used, but the look of the line is always bad. I am still completely unable to draw what I want without copying.
>>
>>8037655
Line quality is pretty much the only area in which I have ever improved. I still have no idea what I'm doing and generally fail so spectacularly that my intended subject isn't even recognizable, but my lines look a lot better than they did at first and I can generally place them where I want.
