Imagine if we got one of these instead of the Freedom Tower. What do you think fellow architects?
>>8039309Pretty much all of them are copes. The real chad move would have been to just rebuild the WTC exactly as they were originally. A big fuck you to anyone who tried to change you by effectively eliminating the result of their actions.Like cleaning up graffiti, you don't leave a memorial to it, you clear it up and act like it was never there to begin with.
>>8039309The bottom right one is the worst, like yeah I’m sure when tourists think "New York City" the think of giant tentacles sticking out of the ground.
>>8039319y2k-looking ass
>>8039309wow, they're not even trying to hide them being hollow and empty, huh
>>8039319>bottom right
>>8039309LMAO at the 911 one
>>8039309>911 shapedthat is so absurd, looks like a damn minecraft build kek thanks mr lacommare
>>8039309Who the fuck thinks two giant ugly hashtags are a good building design? That looks like something a 10 year old would design in Minecraft creative mode. That tentacle design is especially impractical, good luck making an elevator work in that.
>>8039313Donald Trump literally proposed this idea, he wanted to make the "Twin Towers 2", which is would’ve just been the twin towers but a couple floors taller.
>>8039313>exactly as they were originallyunused insurance scams?
>>8039309>upper leftThat's just dumb, like super dumb.>upper rightLooks like something out of a Godzilla movie. What is it even supposed to be, just some observation decks?>bottom leftlol>bottom rightImagine if they'd gone with this, everyone would just call it the hashtag towers
>>8039468I think a lot of architects are retards.Barrier of entry is too low.Sad for a profession that had some real world-changing masters.
These ideas are so retarded I wouldn’t be surprised if some there was an idiot architect back then that wanted the new WTC to be a giant George W. Bush head.
>>8039544>Looks like something out of a Godzilla movie. What is it even supposed to be, just some observation decks? That design was proposed by Think Team as the "World Cultural Center", it looks like it may have a couple of offices inside those solid parts of it and a garden on top (?). I think the idea of its design was that it’s made to invoke some sort of ghost image of the towers, as that’s what people who liked the design said.I just think it looks ugly, there are unconventional building designs with interesting ideas that I think look great but this isn’t one of them.
>>8039481Guess he has gone senile way back then too
You guys clearly haven’t seen the most idiotic idea of WTC memorial architecture by a long shothttps://melchin.org/oeuvre/s-p-r-e-a-d/>"let’s just cover a chunk of New York with a modular platform"
>>8039600>Only the wealthy highrisers get sunlight! What a fantastic idea... for a dystopia.
>>8039319i want to know the reasoning behind that one honestly
>>8039559You can say a lot about architects but the barrier to entry is not low given all the testing and certifications they have to undergo
>>8039600I wonder if that was the inspiration for Deus Ex Human Revolution's Shanghai
Where are the Sky Gardens??
I think for everyone watching that horrible day, we were thinking that the towers needed something... a bit like this*unveils design*
a series of colourful LEDs paints the city and makes it come alive >>8039740with a kaleidoscope of colours, you'll thrill at the action, adventure and excitement before joining a friend or loved one for an evening in New York City's scenic financial district.
>>8039740>>8039742I would ride the hell out of that
>>8039742>>8039740This is like a sketch from some abstract black comedy show.
>>8039743I think I speak for all of us when saying, we all would! However -- the excitement doesn't stop there -- because when the heat ramps up we've gotta have... water slides!
>>8039659Just throwing shit at the wall
>>8039600Seal the covered area completely and rename it the Underworld. Bonus points if you make it into a prison colony
>>8039309https://youtube.com/watch?v=kk0M0PsaTLk
>>8039309>Remember Seattle>Save Kyotowhat did the tentacles mean by this?
>>8039659Abstract art like that was realllly in back then. Thank God they didn't go with some idiot's idea that was blind to the fact that this eyesore would have to be there for however long it took people to agree that they can overlook 9/11 to get red of the dated and shit abstract design. If you're designing buildings, don't design them so that people desperately want to destroy them asap
>>8039572>you have become the very thing you swore to destroy
>>8039659I looked it up and all I could find is that it was pitched as the "World Peace Center", hence why stuff like "Save Kyoto" and "remember Seattle" are also printed onto it, I seriously doubt the person who thought up of that idea considered what the interiors would look like. Each tendril is so thin each floor would probably have like a four rooms on it.
This proposed idea feels like something out of a Marvel film, like the place a Spiderman fight scene would happen.
>>8039309>>8039313they never rebuilt the towers because the construction of a skyscraper takes more than 8 years, which is about the duration of the average boom/bust cycle for an economy. not even saudi arabia finished their 1000 meter tower, and they're exceedingly wealthy (for now, until the goyl runs out)
