At what point must one consider themselves delusional and give up on art as a career? Can you really fake it until you make it using AI in this day and age?
>>
delusion is a great motivator. a hong xiuquan will go further than ricefarmer chang that is just content having a full belly and some schnaps at the end of the day.
>>
Can anon really stop asking retarded questions in this day and age?
>>
>>8039827
meh too many cliches. do they drink schnaps in china?

everyone knows trad painting was killed in chinese villages 25 years ago - same guy as the rice farmer content with a full belly, etc.

there are two aspects to giving up, i think:
1. ive never gotten really good and being good matters to me, so i quit.
2. ive learned to accept what i can do, but i dont get paid or recognized...so i quit trying to get paid and recognized.
and 3. ive learned to accept what i can do and have managed to get paid and recognized, so even if im not 'good' by my own standards i have no reason to quit.

these of course are regardless of ai. fuck ai. ai is like asking to work in a Ford factory instead of becoming a blacksmith, or instead of becoming a materials engineer.
>>
>>8039827
Not everyone can be a winner. At some point it is smarter to accept reality and find a happier path. The question is what are the indicators that someone is at that point?
>>
>>8039841
lol. If a "happier path" involves not striving towards something, you were never cut out for it to begin with. If aren't enjoying the process of mastery, you won't become a master. Dumbass.

as an artist, I strive to some day afford my own paintings
>>
>>8039855
lame
if you can shit on the street you can afford your work
>>
>>8039852
You can strive towards other things, like music, or programming, or pottery. Even in art there are many avenues. How many people are stuck in hopeless anime girl pinup pipe dreams? At what point do you pivot into something new?
>>
>>8039862
how many people stumble upon success without mastery?
a lot.
just sayin.

Make a Twitter account right now.
Post your drawings as you finish them.
Do this for one month.
See what happens.

If nobody follows or comments, you should give up.
If you get 50–100 followers and people are engaging with your work, you should continue.

Your success depends on how much genuine attention you can get on social media. That is where your money comes from eventually.

Don't use Ai. They can tell.
>>
>FEED THE AI
>>
>>8039794
ai is stagnating hard and relies too much on user input. its failing cause aitards are too lazy to learn illustration skills and do it right. this is why illustrators and animators are being pushed to adopt ai, its not the other way round. it really is just another tool like photobashing.

STOP ASKING QUESTIONS!!!!
>>
you jut need a stable life and some hope, nothing else matters. If your life is actively getting worse despite improving at art, then drawing becomes nearly impossible. Its a privilege to draw in the first world, most of your time needs to go to sustaining yourself while everything collapses.
Ironically, thirdies have more time to draw, because they're already in a set lifestyle and they won't move up or down anyways, so they just draw because it has a real chance of changing their life.

you have to remember art success is often more of a public relations game than being a good artist.

This anon is onto something
>>
>>8039881
An extremely tiny % out of all those who try. Many more people die filled with regret that they wasted time on something that was never going to come to fruition, when instead they could've tried something else and found success.
>>
> not a single anon mentioned an applying for an actual job just farming engagement.

i hate it here.
>>

Applying for an art job in 2026 is impossible.

Unironically this.

I noticed they are only hiring literal actual retards. Like every publix I shop at they have these actual retarded special needs adults at the register and bagging area. Multiple locations.

The other day I saw a man and his father giving this autistic cashier lady a hard time and even her coworkers came behind her and gave her demands like a slave. But she took the verbal abuse like a champ almost like she's a robot I've never seen anything like that.
>>
>>8040266
>going to work for some faggot MBA who doesn't actually care about your work, hands you a design spec that you have to follow precisely so your art does not stand out too hard compared to the guy next to you, and who will replace you at the drop of a hat the moment the bean counter he employs says its cheaper to hire a fresh taiwanese or belarussian graduate
>All for some shit pay and your name in the credits of an auto-questing mobile game with $20 microtransactions that runs hot because it's using some dumbfuck's phone as a cryptominer and/or botnet and/or data harvesting everything they do.
>>

Art jobs are mostly connections these days. You have to either be top % of skill or have a large social media following. There's plenty of highly skilled artists still struggling to find work after being laid off from whatever industry they're in. AI is eating up the entirety of low level/grunt work artist labor, so there's not even a good starting point for beginners to get into
>>
skilless retards in this thread larping like its the market's fault they dont get hired lol
>>
>>8040332
This, it's easier than ever to get paid. If you can't find success in 2026 you're just a moron who deserves to be replaced.
>>
>>8040342
>>8040332
It IS really bad out there. But ic has over the last few years just completely stopped discussion about ever working in the industry to pretend having a small patreon nsfw business with an ever dwindling amount of subs (this is way more prone to AI replacement than actual corpo jobs) as a viable alternative is a little funny but mostly sad.
>>
>>8040393
Corpo jobs are more prone to overseas replacement if skilled, AI replacement if "filling space/decorative". Flat designs like corporate memphis/allegria have utility in that brands can just have their graphic design department do double duty making soulless slop rather than hiring illustrators. AI allows these soulless products to be pumped out to any executive's will without being forced into the mold of flat art.

Internet artists are independent fine artists, not corpo employees. Money is made though having loyal fans that genuinely like what you do and want to pay you to make them something special and/or just to keep on trucking. It's quite literally impossible to just duplicate someone's art unless the original artist was churning out uninspired high-skill/low-concept trash.

Luxury art can't be replaced by AI art, unless the AI art is in and of itself seen as luxury. The vast majority of artists get fucked because their art is shit and thus not seen as luxury, what makes you think AI artists aren't falling into the same pool?
>>
>>8039794
AI isn’t necessarily “faking it.” A sequence like this looks exactly like my drawing, and Mecha animation is so tough actual studios switched to CGI for it quick.

Someone who knows how to create the visuals he wants will always have the advantage compared to someone who has to hope AI will randomly generate something useful. I use my agents to create docs to define the visual, story, game logic etc parameters of my projects so they know how to get results I actually want to make, but extending beyond my slow direct drawing in isolation to get something going with real speed.
>>
>>8039794
Only delusional can make it, always has been. If you are practical realist you are ngmi, good luck with your hobby
>>
>>8040393
People have lost hope. There was a time when people actively tried to build portfolios here for industry jobs. Now most people have even given up on patreon indie careers due to AI. It's grim out there
>>
>>8039841
Your defeatism is the tool of slavers
I starve and suffer for my dreams and will do so until my dying last breath
>>
>>8040590
Am I a fool?
Yes.
I do so anyways.
>>
Just work a job and do art on the side
>>
>>8040592
May it be the reverse
>>
>>8040597
rents too high for the reverse. Gen X was the last generation who could do that.
>>
>>8040605
That explains a lot
>>
>>8040611
My brain can do 30 hours a week
That should be enough, 5 days 6 hour shifts
But that like 2.2-2.3K/month before taxes and they want you making 3x the rent cost so a 1K/month place is still out of reach
Yet working 60 hours is 4.5K/month before taxes and the average rent is 2K
People in cities don’t survive or live with like 10 room mates or some shit
>>
>>8040613
So you kinda just have to deal the brunt and van life shit if you can save up and get a gym membership + make us of the local library
Living out from the car can be done even if I know cops will fuck you if you park anywhere other than Walmart parking lots but with the security cams and California’s hatred of the poor I doubt even that is an option
>>
>>8040605
just live with your parents

normies are just sociopaths now i wish nothing but poor things upon them. i wouldnt be surprised if those people's main pastime was watching lolcow videos and bodycam footage on youtube. some faggot at my last job gave me the shittiest smirk after his mommy rudely let me know that i got her change a dollar off or something. wanted to knock that fuckers teeth out, manchild looked 25+ and unkempt. all of my coworkers talked shit behind my back too and wanted nothing to do with me despite my efforts to be nice. this is why i neet and litter in public and cut people off in traffic. fuck normies i hope another round of covid happens and wipes more of them out.
