at what point does using reference become plagiarism??is using other people's art as a "reference" to draw something very similar but with another character technically plagiarism or is it a-okay? this is a moral dilemma of mine and i want it answered pronto!!

Some people are a lot more anal about this sort of thing than others.As long as it’s a clearly original piece that you put your own spin on then it’s fine imo. No different from using a random Google Image photo as a reference in that case. But if your drawing is close enough to the original that it looks like a ripoff / homage then it gets harder to say. Unfortunately it’s a very fuzzy line.Obviously this all only applies to “published” pieces. If you’re a /beg/ just doing private exercises then plagiarize all you want, it doesn’t matter.
