Personally, I think it looks best when graffiti artists use their skill to drawing interesting looking characters like these, I hate stuff like kitschy murals and names being tagged in uninteresting ways which seems to be a majority of graffiti these days.

I like it, but only when an actual attempt at art has been made. Tags suck, and just make the area look worse. Actual art adds colour to the grey street.That said, I'm only tolerant of it in so far as it's hasn't been done on someone's 'private' property. If someone puts graffiti on my car or house, even if the art is really nice, I'm fucking killing the dude if I get the chance.Keep that shit on 'public' spaces.And yes I know that private and public can be a little vague, but everyone know instinctively what those are, and what is and isn't a private or public space, so there's no excuses.
I remember one time years ago at a flea market I saw on a truck a hot gamer girl with tentacles reaching for her, I don’t know if the person who owned the truck had that painted on it or if it was just high effort graffiti (a lot of those trucks at the flea market have graffiti on them) but I thought that looked sick, definitely an example of good street artHere’s a small recreation from memory I drew of what I remember seeing.

>>8045734I like graff/tags. I did some back in the day. You cant "like" this form of art from the outside. Its not made for you. Its made for the artist first then for the other taggers. Then maybe, you can get a glimse, a character, a nice colored wild style on an abandonned factory. Tags are as important as the big pièces. The spot, the hight, how dangerous it is give a graff/tag its real qualities. Even the ugliest tag made by the newest toy on air force one would be the most talked about and the toy would get massive respect from the scene.

I got grounded for a month because of that.Safe to say 9 year old me was a master at tagging.

>>8045924I never got close enough to be "in" the circles seeing as I'm mostly a digital artist and an amateur watercolor painter, but the taggers I met were always very nice. One guy showed me his bic pen sketches that he would get commissioned to make or that he would use as inspiration himself. He saw me drawing and liked my linework because it reminded me of his and it was just a happy moment. He was kind of awkward and autismo for a biker but I can't deny those school notebook sketches were seriously impressive. That single experience made me appreciate graffiti artists ten times more and I hope I see him again.I know my experience isn't universal and it's going to vary from place to place but I feel happy there's a lot of cool dudes here. If there's even one more upside to drawing in public it's when random artists approach me and show me what they've made.
