You can make a decent Copy if you actually followed some form of simple analytical rules ( Silhouette, negative space, PLUMB LINES) but he sees these construction vids by the asian artists and tries to copy that coupled with everyone in the comments telling him to try something else.

>>8056653better wish you were based gay maybe‘t works both ways. i’m a girl and like to draw guys, so using myself as a reference doesn’t work when i need to have an understanding of things like the squash and stretch of bulky muscles. also subtle transitions are too smooth and minimized, everywhere. even the bones are too small. i end up making the forms look feminine if i use a female as ref for drawing males. even the distribution of weight around the body slightly changes our positions and movements, and a position that feels natural and comfortable to females would rest in different distributions in males, so even things down to the overall curvature of the gesture and the generalized pose need to be entirely reconsidered, so it’s almost always easier just to intuit a male mannequin appropriately from the beginning. there is some really unique stuff you can get though if you’re using yourself as reference more indirectly, but yeah! i feel you.
