>no man you need a giant cutout black cardboard thing with markings on distance and shit, a flat plastic board marked with directions, twenty different pencils, ten different types of colored paper, a specific eraser, a mirror in specific size, a giant notebook, and you need to spend twenty days drawing your hands before you can draw an ovalWhat the fuck? I wanted to learn art because it was supposedly the cheapest and most accessible art, "basically you only need a pencil and a page and that's it" but every single /beg/ book or course is the same fucking shit, you need to spend a month getting all the materials and doing basic shit exercises before you can even begin. Bullshit.
>>8052930
>>8052930Just watch videos of mangaka make manga. They just use 2b pencil or mechanical pencil from rough outline to somewhat decent sketch.
>he doesn't have specific eraserit was over before you even starter
>>8052931I tried that but it felt weird and then I learnt that apparently I need to learn observational drawing before constructive drawing. Idk though, maybe I could try to draw like Loomis again, it just felt like he rushed from drawing basic shapes to drawing complex faces a bit too fast
>>8052930I mean, that’s still true, you really do only need a pencil and paper. You can just wing it for all the other stuff you don’t have. You can also get a cheap tablet and emulate all the extra materials in software and then you’ll be set
>>8052930Ok. Don't use it then. That's why you do a minimal amount of research before jumping into a new course
>>8052953It isn't about the courses retard, it's about how there really isn't a proper beginners' thing that doesn't require mass preparationHow the fuck were people like Van Gogh who was a bum able to learn art without anything and in 2026 we need two months of material acquisition to learn art from people who draw worse than he did
>>8052955I honestly don't understand the problem. Just order everything online. There's a version that comes with a viewfinder if you don't want to make your own. I think there were two exercises about drawing your hand. Why are you being so dramatic?
>>8052958Also if you think drawing circles is important just do Drawabox. I think it's stupid, but it's just fineliners and printer paper. Ezpz, faggarini.
>>8052958>just spend $40 on the main book and the workbook and then spend extra money on all the other materials and shit which you won't ever use againAgain, I said I chose to learn art because it's supposedly the cheapest art one can learn and can be done whenever wherever. Why do I need to waste money I could use on anything else for crap like this? What does it do? It's gay retarded bullshit, I want to learn to draw the same way people do where you just scribble shit in a small notebook and that's it, I don't want to be a paypig for shit I won't need after reading the book>>8052960Drawabox seems kinda lame as fuck and it's still a paid service cause you need to pay to have people look at your art which is what the thing is aboutI got ahold of Peter Han's Dynamic Sketching but beyond the fact it's not really for /beg/s it's the same shit, first fucking lecture he goes "oh yeah fags you're going to need a specific type of brown paper which costs $20 per page and fourty different pencils, otherwise you won't learn to press properly or something"
>>8052963>I want to learn to draw the same way people do where you just scribble shit in a small notebook and that's ityou can still do thatjust go outside with a sketchbook and draw stuff you see
>>8052930There’s no such learning art. You need to be more specific with your goal. I guess you could learn art history and stuff like color theory for free at the library, but learning drawing and painting both cost money.
>>8052966How can I do that if I can't learn observational drawing?>>8052967I have no issue with piracy, I just don't want to spend tons of cash on useless materials
>>8052970Resourcefulness as a necessary skill in analog art. If you can’t get your hands on a piece of clear plastic, maybe you aren’t cut out for it and should stick to doodling on lined paper in your school notebook
>>8052963You can try asking if it's possible to do the exercises with less resources and we can try to give advice on substitutions. No one here is going to validate this kind of weaponized incompetence
>>8052970you can learn observational drawing by simply looking at stuff and drawing itother tools are nice to have but optional
>>8052973>weaponized incompetenceliteral preddit buzzword that means nothing, fuck off fag
>>8052934>I need to learn observational drawing before constructive drawing. If you want a book on observational drawing, the one most recommend is Keys to Drawing by Bert Dobson (or whatever). At the very least, all he requires of you is something to draw with, even a ball point pen, and he doesn't recommend rubbing out mistakes, but encourages drawing over the area to make corrections. Not my favourite book, but I personally think 'observational drawing' is overrated anyway. If you're doing studies of anything, you're doing observational drawings, so I fail to see why you need specific instruction for it, but maybe that's just me. There's likely a reason there's instructions on shampoo bottles after all.
>>8052976I literally just told you if you want advice on using the book on a budget you just had to ask. Is that really so hard?
>>8052985Of course, now you need to apologize for being rude before I'll help. Are you willing to anonymously humble yourself a little to accomplish one of your goals in life?
>>8052974This. Skip 60% of the exercises in DRSB desu just draw the upside down guy and some white space and you'll get the gist. Grab a sketchbook, a 2B and go outside.
>>8052930>I wanted to learn art because it was supposedly the cheapest and most accessible artAccording to your headcanon, retard? Wroting, singing, acting and dancing is literally free
>>8052974>>8052983>>8053019How hard is it to get over symbol drawing without most of RSOB though?
>>8053043Impossible. No artist has ever gotten over symbol drawing without Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain.
>>8053050No need for sarcasm. My point is if it's a natural process or you need instruction.
>>8053043All you have to do is not draw symbols
>>8053139But translation of sight to symbols is a natural tendency of the human brain. Isn't that why you need to draw shit upside down and such
Only if you're a so-called "connosieur".Basically you can use things from micron pens to crayons to art (or at the very least begin arting)Everybody works differently.
>>8052930Betty "short end of the shtick" Edwards.
>>8053223kill yourself, boomer
>>8052930>Artist on the cover is literally named boomer>First drawing and three months progress mogs 95% of /ic/Zoomlets and millennials on suicide watch
