I'm having a nervous breakdown. I was checking these VISIONS and ILLUSTRATIONS books to find someone to emulate, Naoki Saito-style. But just found that the reality is harsh, the gap is humongous. How can a human draw like that? The "artists" I admire on social media, youtube, courses, and video game artbooks, are basically just amateurs compared to the stuff in those magazines. Wtf.

Rolua (in your cover) is literally on YouTube, though
most of those artists are on social media also what are you on about
>>
>>8054396
I'm not sure what you're on about.
I checked his youtube. It's inactive. A few videos. A few recorded livestreams. Old ones too.
And if there are so many great Japanese artists on youtube and others, why do you guys just keep mentioning Hide and the like? Or other grifters that are not even Japanese like oridays.
Holy shit, kys. KILL YOURSELF!

It's truly fascinating. How is bro STILL unable to fully jpmax even with a Japanese youtuber mentoring him for a while? He still goes full gaijin core in his lineart and shapes. Why is bro STILL low cognitive resolution after 10k+ hours of drawing?

I don't even know if he is cringe in his views, don't hate the guy or anything necessarily but how does this happen to someone? I mean I don't mind having him as a Naoki-style counter-model for myself, but it still would be nice to have some more popular westerners (or australian chinese or whatever) doing actual anime.

You're a tremendous newfag if you believe the artists in there are somehow some kind of godlike breed you don't see anywhere. I just went through all of it and already knew pretty much all of them. Maybe if you stopped being a godamn TikTok zoomer you'd learn to find their socials.

these kind of illustrations take days and they go crazy on the effects and layers. There is a process, they aren't just drawing it on one layer or something. Its true digital art. The base sketch is something you can aspire to, all the shadows add so much depth but it can be learned and was likely done on a dedicated session because its so complex.
>>
>>8054367
All of this is render slop.

I am curious about what you are referring to? He seems pretty good.
>>
>>8055688
Least obvious ai workflow result, look at her chest lmao
>>
>>8055688
He's obviously good for his hours and has real skill, I just mean that he doesn't know about crucial things to make his art look like proper Japanese anime.
Overly simplified shapes and lineart in the face is the main thing, and this flaw shows up literally everywhere, but this illustration is actually a better work I was more surprised by in terms of everything else.

Just take any great pro illustrator with a similar-ish style and zoom in on the face and see how they do the lines counting every single stroke and movement of the pen and compare. It's genuinely enlightening and what I meant by him being my counter-model. It's unironically like 480p vs 4k in terms of drawing cognitive resolution. Basically bro is grinding, but bro did not go hard on anime settei or illustrator line copies so his shapes and lines are still lacking.

>How is bro STILL unable to fully jpmax even with a Japanese youtuber mentoring him for a while
if you mean jpmax is doing good anime art or something, then obviously, by not working enough.
The dude is a language teacher; this is a side hustle for him. You would need a full stream of continuous, high-standard jobs to build him into the masters he is learning from
>>
>>8055717
He could be much much better than he is right now with his 12k+ or whatever if he laid down the constructoid goyslop he's been pushing and focused on making his art more anime. Even ~300-400 hours of careful dedicated copy grinding would do wonders for him.
There are people who have art as a hobby with much less hours invested that understand a lot of the things he is simply missing in his art.
>>
>>8055714
i think you've not actually watched many anime or manga at all and that's why you still have this very very strange fixation on some platonic ideal of a "japanese artstyle" that can only be born out of ignorance
>>
>>8055734
It's not a platonic ideal, it's a bunch of concrete and tangible things Japanese artists do that make their anime look the way it does. All of this subtletly faux anime just doesn't pick up on, that's why it's called low cognitive resolution art.

when you work out you get stronger, of course you could say "i just gained some musculature, my muscular density has increased" but everyone would think you're a pretentious retard.
There's a word for when you look at your older drawings and feel embarrassed, its called "getting better". Using a japanese translation of a term that already exists in english without the obsfuscation is really gay. stop slurping japanese balls for once, youre falling for post-ww2 american propaganda about japan you pseud

First, analyze the reason why you like that thing: you dont like it because the 'art' evokes a certain feeling inside yourself. You like it because of its post processing a.k.a. superficial aspect of its visual.
Then, start to understand this matter from higher perspective: this is the difference between illustration and art: llustrator cares about the end result while artist cares about the substance; illustrator cares about the representation while artist cares about communication. The most successful illustrators are those who can draw an eye catching drawing that caught everyones attention in their social media feed, hence why their objective was to make their drawing 'popped out' and as vibrant as possible or in short >>8055640
Therefore, what you need to learn in here is graphic design -anything about graphic design- particularly photoshop itselfas a software, and not painting in general. Additionally, you have to shift your mindset and change your orientation, that instead of thinking 'i have to paint' you have to change it to 'i have to render and photobash everything in order for this illustration to looks good and eyecatching'
Youre welcome

It's impressive how long this buzzword has dominated the western mind without people realizing it's low cognitive resolution babble. Thankfully things are changing due to based Saito.
>>
>>8056254
Hopefully his books encourage a general culture of Japanese people writing high quality instructional texts. Would be really nice to see veteran illustrators write something too so we can have their knowledge in book form.
>>
>>8054367
Most of the best Japanese illustrators and mangaka graduated from art or design universities or vocational schools, or at least took a couple years of courses before dropping out to start their career. Everyone seems to ignore that part.

You need to aim lower and work your way up incrementally. You're a beginner trying to emulate the most well-known, skilled, and industry leading artists, of course you're gonna get dogwalked. If you're not prepared for the grind, then prepare for it or give up. This shit takes years of trying, failing, sort of succeeding a lil bit, then way more failing. All the while the artists you look up too keep grinding improving and getting better. If you can't get past this hump, you won't last. glhv
