I'm unfamiliar with Glen Vilppu but if you're looking for good, free courses the most you can hope for is PDFs of books. But, if you're not inclined to reading, look for a course that has a good structure and explains how to improve in the craft/technical aspect of illustration, ideally in or building towards working in your preferred medium.

If you are willing to spend a bit I'd recommend Proko.com, the course quality is a little scattershot but most of the courses are good and made by competent artists and teachers. It also has a lot of free samples and resources to try.
