is this true or there’s more to it
So imagining a cat make the faces easier to draw.
>>
low cr
the shapes are pretty different
>>
>>8056069
animu fans are freaks
>>
>>8056069
it's just neonatal features we find cute in general, not specifically cats
>>
>>8056073
no it's just a stupid meme
>>
>>8056073
High CR, the shapes are more cat than human
>>
haha op i just went down the rabbit hole of drawing a series of my favorite two manga characters in their final battle chapter dress through a lens of cute cat interactions. save the author’s canon from these abominations o lord.
>>
>>8056075
they are but they're our clientele.

those aren't neonatal features, dumb redditor
>>
>>8056311
Neoteny or whatever it's called. Big head, big eyes, high forehead, small nose, no jawline, receding chin, high head to body ratio, thin neck, chubby cheeks. Cats and pets in general were bred to keep these features because we find them cute.
>>
>>8056767
stop parroting retarded shit you heard on reddit, you dumb nigger, that's an adult ocelot, it's not even the same fucking genus as domestic cats, which only diverged 10k years ago and are extremely well documented in terms of evolution, whereas ocelots and oncilas are 8 million fucking years removed from them, have different chromosome counts and can't interbreed
it's literally just what medium cats look like because it makes them good at hunting their prey
>>
>>8056829
this thing is 9-10 million years removed, it barely even looks like a cat and yet has the same characteristics

Thank you for owning him, I hate when people talk out their ass.
>>
>>8056835
Not really an own, many predators, including felines and ocelots and whatever, look like human babies, so we find them cute. Moeshit has baby proportion, that is why it looks cute.

>Cats and pets in general were bred to keep these features because we find them cute.
That describes maybe half the breeding in the last 50 years, maybe 5% a 100 years ago.
Pets were bred for hunting, pest control, shepherding, speed, security etc. The single most common dog breed was bred to bring water to fishermen.
Cats literally just look like the African wildcat Egyptians were breeding for religious rituals because that's what they had
>>
>>8056829
>same characteristics
That was exactly my point retard. no need to sperg out about ocelots.
>>
>>8056844
no, your """point""" was the nature and cause of those characteristics, you dumb nigger
>>
>>8056849
calm down and try reading it again, maybe you'll get it this time
>>
>>8056851
>neonatal
wrong
>bred to keep those features
wrong
go back, retard
>>
>>8056852
i guess the concept is too high level for you
>>
>>8056851
Why are you running damage control on an anonymous website? You repeated something objectively wrong you accepted without thinking or researching, just take the L and move on
>>
>>8056854
what did i get wrong
>>
>>8056855
Are you retarded?
>>
>>8056857
not an argument. if you think im a retard you should win easily.
>>
>>8056858
>>8056854
>>
>>8056859
so you have no argument? this retard wins again
>>
>>8056832

i'm shitty ass at drawing faces, but using a cat portrait kinda helped, wtf. it also makes it easier to draw stylized faces

>is this true or there’s more to it
I don't know if it's true or not. But the results of drawing on top of cat photos feel better because it's preventing symmetry issues, not because of the species per se.
>>
>>8064757
prove it

>>
>>8064892
Simon you're supposed to draw on top of a cat not a child
>>
>>8064892
epitome of western artist... chooses monkey looks like retard. eastern choose cat and it looks cute..
>>
>>8064892
>cats help with not drawing symmetrically
>prove it (monkey reaction image)
>draws the monkey instead of a cat to prove your point
KEKAROOOO
>>
>>8064892
Anon, I...
>>
>>8064993
You know damn well that wasn't a reaction image and was a response to saying any species of animal could be utilized for symmetry.
>>
>>8065018
That monkey was really smug though.
>>
>>8064916
I'm not telling you to use anything. I'm not advocating for drawing over photos. I'm just pointing out that OP's pic is somewhat of an illusion.
Look at the top right on OP's image. None of those overlay drawings follow the face contour of a cat. None of the chins match. None of them draw cat nostrils. The eyes aren't even the same shape and size.
What they do use from the photo is the positioning of the eyes and nose, which is a relationship. That's one of the harder parts of drawing faces, maintaining that relationship correctly in perspective.
What is the first thing nearly every beginner anime drawer starts with? The eye. They draw one lone eye, detail the heck out of it, and feel quite proud because it looks nice. But when they move on to a complete face, everything looks wrong.
>>
>>8065033
drawings over cats look like anime
your drawings don't look like anime
wordswordswords won't make you draw good (anime)
>>
>>8065039
Kaiji is the most anime thing to have ever animed. Get out.
>>
>>8065041
Simply drawing a character from an anime doesn't make a drawing anime. Those drawings are still the usual western faux stuff.
>>
Cats are notoriously difficult to draw.
Even the greatest artists struggle to get them to look right.
I honestly think drawing human heads is easier.
Not a worthwile strategy for me.

>>8064892
You absolutely raped and murdered that guy, holy shit

None of those drawings are symmetrical at all, though. Even the girl has the entire face both shifted off center and at a wrong angle to the face plane altogether, it looks like a potato
>>
>>8056069
moeblobs have snouts, that's it
>>
>>8064892
Sir, this thread is about anime, not whatever that is.

because he draw it over it with the opacity lowered down while not understanding how anime art don't really apply for realism you can't simply apply realism -> to anime type of drawing directly that's why it looks off.

flip the image, bro
