I know /ic/ is done with the concept art era, but back in the day everyone wanted to work for WotC.What do you think of this development?I think AI is here to stay. This is postcard artists rebelling against cameras and printers. It's over.
>>8056561"This thing no one wants and is actively avoided by many people, and is already shown to have a major negative impact on sales, is definitely here to stay."
I think it's triangulation, no reason to pit artists against AI., they should adopt it as another tool in their arsenal.
>>8056567We will see. I think realistically and logically you may be right , as AI is too big to go back now, whether we like it or not. Many coding jobs require and even demand you use some amounts of AI , provided you can use it to solve their problems efficiently. Commercial art is no different, except artists have to operate under the idea of brand image and customer loyalty - which means obscuring any use of AI in the process as much as possible. It's highly likely many of the games and media you like already have AI imbedded in their pipeline , you just don't know about it, and probably will never know about it.

>>8056564They just do paintovers to give the AI output a more coherent style. Or better prompted stuff that people wouldn't even recognize as AI because it doesn't fit the mold of AI art.The stuff people don't like is the Chinese market rendermaxxed style of AI.
none of you have any idea what the industry pipeline entails but do keep up with the misinformation i guess
>>8056574I pretty much haven't writing much code by hand since May. It's all prompting now. I lost the passion for coding. It's just a job now. I won't artificially keep it hard for me by not using AI. I'll just chill and use my free mental and time capacity to browse.
>>8056589Share your industry knowledge Marvel-fag. In return I'll use your pronouns.
>>8056592Why should I help you larp better lol?
>>8056574This. Retarded crabs on ic desperately want you to believe otherwise, but AI is increasingly prevalent in the industry. Photobashing AI is the new photobashing photos/3d models. You can either adapt or stay on /ic/ F4'ing for begs to shit on for the rest of your life while everyone else is actually making a career from their art.
WotC can't stop taking LsLet them do ai slop, it's just the thing that will finally kill them for good
>>8056564I don't think that many people give a fuck, you got loud minorities on both sides but the average normie just hates it when it looks like shit or when they expect him to pay the same rates for slop and regular art.You could get them to change their minds in a few years or at least bring new customers who don't care as much

>>8056567Drawing isn't that complicated. AI really can't help since it it doesn't take 2 people to draw something. Theres really no use for it. Either you use humans or AI not both.

It's over.">"That's right fellow artists, I'm not an AI shill, I'm just an overly concerned fellow artists who talks like a shill"How's the weather in India today? And no one cares what WOTC do, they've stopped being a company anyone has any aspiration to work for some time ago. Better they prompt their bland homosexual images, than force anyone to draw that slop (AI or not).>>8056667>I don't think that many people give a fuckI disagree, I actually think most dislike it at a base level on principle, it's just they don't care enough to actively avoid it.It makes sense when you think about how few people actually engage with the art scene, like going to galleries or even buying real art.The broader public like art, but they don't really care THAT much about art... however if you placed an easy way to fight back against AI in front of them, that requires little from them (like a petition signature), most would agree, I believe.
>>8056561It's the nature of how industries evolve. They only care about making more money. Same thing happened when people moved from trad to digital, and now it's digital to AI. Why? Because money. People confuse artistry with consumerism all the time. Hopefully now the difference becomes clear to you all. People that make a living off art are forced to adapt or adopt the technology. Unfortunately given AI is an unprecedented beast unlike anything ever seen before in history, it's safe to say unless you're in the big club of billionaire elites, you're fucked in the fast approaching future.

>>8057269>They talk explicitly about art assets? That's just the companies that disclose. Korean MMOs are already using AI art assets shamelessly and people don't care. There are already a few Anime studios proudly using AI, hell one was bought by an AI firm out the gate. I don't get westerners hesitation for AI while people in Asia accept it. It is the west that made Anime popular both with imports and online preservation. The Japanese did not a diddly squat to preserve anime and if it wasn't for the west they'd have a major lost media problem. Why then, does the west fear AI? This is a "problem" they have created while Asia accepts it. I know the answer....because they're all sheep that follow Sakimichan and Shadman and Gayman and Ragadagaman telling them to fear AI and reject it. Fools. They'll be left behind--THEY (the popular people) and with them are the fools who follow them blindly.

The best thing you can do to spite the schizo crabs on /ic/ is to use the tech to get ahead. Photobash/trace, learn the tools and how lora models work. The people that get in on the ground floor will be like the sakimi chans of the new era, establishing social media followings and industry positions that will carry them long past the initial gold rush. >spite the schizos>he is the schizomkay
>>8057350it's too late to start with AI slop now, you can't compete against the AI bots
My news-and-politics twitter feed is a microcosm of what the future of the internet writ large will be if there isn't a course correction very soon (and, FWIW, I don't think there will be one). When it comes to "creative" images and videos (i.e. not raw photos or videos of actual events) it's almost 100% AI slop: AI political cartoons, AI memes, AI posters, AI political parody videos. Much of the text itself is obviously written by AI, and a bunch of posts (even ones by well-known commentators who definitely used to write their own columns, books, etc.) smell like AI, but it's impossible to know for sure whether or not it was used. Among the most common type of post is one wherein the author asks Grok a question, as a sort of appeal to authority. I pretty much never see original drawings or paintings. Nobody is drawing political cartoons or even posting drawn cartoons or caricatures. Video parodies featuring real actors are almost non-existent.Realistic AI imagery is easy to identify. Sometimes it's just because of the content, but I think there are also tells in the way it looks. The same is true for a lot of the stylized stuff, as in the political caricatures and posters. Even normies have no trouble picking out AI graphic design.I've never been happy about AI-generated creative content of any kind, for reasons that I think should be obvious to everyone with a modicum of intelligence and foresight. However, it's reached the point where it actually disgusts me to see it. It's everywhere. On my twitter feed, I can't escape the ugly, uncanny, awkward, alien attempts at imitating life. The memes and videos, at first amusing, now grate on me. I feel contempt for the people churning this stuff out. It's not hard to imagine a time not long from now when you won't be able to find anything but slop on the internet, and won't be able to trust that even something without the obvious tells was, in fact, made without AI.
>>8057354You're literally in the best time to start. Stop letting these transexuals convince you to stay a laggard.

>>8057363not very convincing, can't grow an audience these days since social media is filled with bots. no one will wanna watch my AI slop when Disney and every other media company have data centers pumping out much higher quality AI slop with millions of dollars in advertising budgets. naturally the slop market will be 99.99% bots very quickly, even if it's just by flooding the market. there's no need for a human middleman. everything will be assumed to be AI until proven otherwise by having a history of authenticity. the only safe haven will be communities who rejected AI completely.
>>8056561ai is going to be standard for corporate art, but that shit was photobashed crap regardless. at a certain level of skill throwing out forms and refining takes about as long as prompting and tracing an ai photo, and you get a far more specific result. so unless you are ripping people off with pure gen ai crap, its a very inefficient "tool."
>>8057378You see here is the thing...you're not Disney and that's a good thing. Disney does not own Bytedance or Alibaba who own their own models. For the first time in history the common man has an upper hand to dethrone the dinosaurs of yesteryear and you don't need millions to do it.

Doesn't help that all the AI content on social media is inorganically boosted to make it appear as if people like it and sloppers themselves will keep telling you that as if no one would know how easy it is to buy bots, followers and likes nowadays and as if the whole internet isn't just majority bots now.

>>8057336Nta, but boiling artists chosing digital art down to the "logical next step" is so disingenuos. You can't compare the two. Digital painting is simply another creative medium whereas becoming a prompter has little to nothing to do with creativity. When you paint digitally you do all the creative thinking, just transfered to a digital medium. You have to know your anatomy, perspective, color theory etc.. that's the appeal; you create by using those same tools and knowledge through experience but with digital tools. Can't be compared to prompting whatsoever - which is more akin to comissioning a specific painting from an artist and then claiming you made it. When you remove the creative aspects don't be surprised when artists don't "adapt". This is not a tool for the vast majority of creative people.
>>8057719>>8057717>>8057703Remain behind, chuds.
>>8057734>becoming a prompter has little to nothing to do with creativityYou lack understanding of how ai works in 2026. You have a belief system installed by a blue checkmark without actually learning thy enemy. Therefore, nothing you say would make any sense on the modern battlefield of today.
>>8057991This. Retarded schizos have insulated themselves for so long in their delusional bubbles they can't see how even artists more skilled than them in every aspect they aspire to be (perspective, anatomy, colors) are adopting AI as part of the workflow. With the recent malfoid trend I see so many people photobashing AI and getting away with it. Normies are consuming and enjoying AI without even realizing it, and the people that learned the tech are now spamming the algorithm and gaining huge following/patrons because of it. All while schizos screech on here trying to drown out any mention of AI, good or bad, as if silencing the conversation will be some "win" against AI, when in reality it simply lets the people who abuse it get away with it.

>>8056567The problem is that WotC can develop an AIslop model that uses data from every piece of actual MtG art, tell it to shit out a bunch of things in the style of so-and-so artist, and have some intern-tier staff "artists" do some touchups for peanuts, and call it a day. Keep in mind though that if another company trained an AI on MtG and crapped out their own competing card product clearly trained even on WotC own AIslop, WotC would go fucking nuclear.
>>8058070Disney, Pixar, Blizzard, Hasbro, and Coke are all companies off the top of my head that have been caught using AI, and are doubling down on it.Or here's a recent indie project that raised almost half a million off AI art (it's clear it's AI from their "drafts" that they now deleted). If you try to check the artists behind it, they have "Student Artists: The broader watercolor artwork and illustrations were also crafted by a group of students working under the artistic direction of Berdowska". In other words, they used AI. Go through kickstarter (sort by almost funded for a real blackpill) and you'll see many AI art projects. But you'll just move the goalposts to "I need a 4k video of this dude being paid $100k a year by disney prompting". No one is trying to convince you to use AI, just that this shit is happening. It's so insane that to this day you'll have artists denying hpw AI is changing the landscape (for the worse), so instead of being able to do anything we have to fight the very people we need to onboard the movement to hold our politicians/AI corpos accountable.
these brownoids really expect to be taken seriously and still believe they are making everyone mad

There was a time when I thought Photoshop was cheating. But I didn't care. I worked tossing boxes around at night and had limited time to draw. And my competition were wunderkidz who outclassed me artistically and lived without worrying about food or rent. My roommate had a nephew well connected with warez, and gave me Photoshop 5.5 and filters, and after many experiments, I did a 16 page story to teach myself how to craft comics by drawing bits of panels and assemble them in Photoshop. So,in essence, I am a Natural Intelligence (as opposed to the Artificial kind) trained on my art to produce variations of a scene when needed. I also hang out in the /b/ AI threads, and occasionally you will find astounding visions as you wade through the Pokémon porn and veiny horse cocks. And I try to understand the methodology behind creating such things, the craft of prompting is an emerging art form. I would like to see what an AI 2D sculpture artist like myself would do with my art. And I imagine yelling at my AI assistant to get stuff right when I am too decrepit to draw myself.

All art is a process and the medium is the tool enacting this process. An AI cannot act on its own to generate imagery, needing parameters and guidelines in the form of prompts. >>8058395I work with average people, you might even call them normies. They constantly shit on AI stuff and think it looks icky. These are 25-65 year old soi fed, vaxxmaxxed, netflix subscribing normies
>>8059904They wouldn't even recognize AI if one would generate a "in the style of" image. They don't like the standard AI look and they think all AI generated images look like that. Consumers will consume and they don't care what it is.
>>8057111I think those ladies are anything BUT normal. they look like weird plastic dolls.
>>8056564/threadthe whole experiment was interesting but there's only so much you can do with making pictures from words lolif a new AI model is invented that actually takes into account visual fundamentals like soft vs angular/negative space/gesture and flow then I think even artists would be impressed but we all no actual visual artists are ever developing this technology further because they know how intangible all of those things are

Cameras and printers killed artists that only made portraits and landscape paintings because you can just fucking take a picture, but this led to more crazy shit made from imagination and idiosyncratic artstyles.AI is the same. It'll kill artists that only draw rendermaxxed pinups and fanart of popular characters doing simple stuff (like most common danbooru tags). I actually took the time to hang around AI circles and the technology is more limited than you think. They usually can't do things with too many characters, unusual characters, actions way too specific, and variations in artstyle and sho and sho on *sniff*. It also sucks for comics and animation. So it follows that artists will adapt by doing more complex stuff, work more on OCs rather than fanart (or make fanart of more obscure characters) and they'll also be doing more comics and animation. They'll also have to learn to rely less on rendering and pure technical skill.Again, artists that only do sexo rendermaxxed pinups, basic non-niche porn (think blowjobs, missionary position sex, idk) and that sort of stuff are done for, but the artists of the future will emerge from their destruction. Don't be doomers.
>>8061197>They usually can't do things with too many charactersThat's odd, I made illustrations with multiple characters just fine. Try spending more than 5 minutes in AI circles.

Have any professional artists successfully integrated AI image generation into their process?I have tried. I thought at least it would be good to use for references. But then when it comes down to it why not just use actual references?I've generated hundreds of AI images - except for a temporary place holder on a web app demo - I have found no actual commercially viable usage in regards to AI image generation.
>>8061292>Have any professional artists successfully integrated AI image generation into their process? No because you quickly find out it makes no sense at all to do that. AI is its own skillset. You can't even feed it your own drawings because computer vision just isn't there yet unless you want to mess with control net, wasting more of your time. So drawing skills are completely worthless and it's a cope to say you'll use it in your "workflow". Yeah right, my ass. You either draw or you do AI. There is no middleground. Sure, there are people drawing to make storyboards, but1. Storyboards for AI...make your shit look janky. It's really only for your local use. You need to think of yourself as the director and your character as its own living, breathing actor and allow it to do its own spontaneous action. If you bring over a restrictive guide to AI like a "storyboard" you're not going to get a good result. 2. Transforming your sketches? Well at that point you might as well just use the damn AI. So like I said, there is no middleground. It's 2 completely different skills.
>>8061197The tools are probably going to get better and be able to do those more niche things. I used to think what you posted, but then I saw how advanced the tools for making pixel art are (just look at the AI game development subreddit). Right now making specific things is hard due to AI art being generated with nothing but long text prompts, but there's probably going to be an "AI Art Studio" which has a few more settings, and then its over. You'll be able to make those slight adjustments.
>>8057631i find it funny when someone brings up AI gen porn because the gooners disliked it enough and used -ai_generated regularly enough that the biggest porn booru did their only search change in years by adding this gaudy button right next to it so people wouldn't have to constantly add it to their searches
>>8056567Until you have an AI that can work with your work and your work alone as reference, it's just an unethical way to derivative results. And a copyright/reputation nightmare against you unless you're Disney or shit like that.
>>8056567>>8061300see >>8056803Anyone talking about using it in their pretend workflow is lying to you. You can only do one or the other. What would be the flipping point of using AI for, let's say, getting a couple poses blocked out and then you use that as a """base""" for your art when the AI could just finish the thing and make it 30000x better than you could ever make it? There's no such thing as a drawing to AI workflow. You can only guide AI with the drawing and it does the work, not "work alongside you" stop this nonsense cope.
