It's difficult to actually detail in the subtle features of the face when you're working so small. The pose being this kind of flat straight on view of the scene without angle or perspective doesn't help either. Sometimes cropping the edge from a piece can help lend emphasis to the parts like the face that you want to highlight as a visual focal point.

Radian created something similar in krita and his pack is still up but truth is all you need is a round brush that blurs and cuts, and to think texturally like clay, and most importantly to FEEL the forms.
>>8058651There is also a chalky, textural diversity to some of my work - something I learned from studying a mummified moose head that had rotted partially in the woods and turned leather. I use a simple pencil brush with a dense grain while thinking about the forms.

Alternatively, paint tool sai and sai 2 have a particular watercolor brush engine that sculpts perfectly if you adjust the blending to your liking. You can pull forms out of nothing.
Also never underestimate the hard round brush at 70% opacity, or really just the hard round brush in general.
