Are there any known instances of big social media artists who are actually multiple artists operating a single account/identity? Or rather, a social media artist who also has an inker, or a colorist, or some other sort of unnamed assistant(s)?
I see some artists on social media who seem to be able to churn out finished works at a pretty impressive rate, and I've wondered how many of them are really just that fast, versus how many actually have assistants.
Sure, it wouldn't really be economically feasible for first worlders (unless they charge $1k+ per piece or something, or have huge Patreons), but in other countries I could certainly see it being a business.

What makes me wonder is the infamous story of BBMBBF, aka the PalComix artist. Most people probably assumed PalComix was just BBMBBF, but eventually it was revealed via a tour video that PalComix was a handful of artists working together in a single building.

If you already got an example, why do you need more?
And how should I know, OP? I'm not mossad. And I'm not retarded enough to follow random internet art drama.

The PalComix reveal was more of an old internet thing. I'm talking about artist that are trendy on social media.
And, along those lines, do any artists on here have their own inkers/colorists, or are you one for somebody else?

How will knowing this change the outlook of your life? I'm sure a husband and wife sharing an account is not an unheard of concept where the wife is the face and the husband is the painter behind the screen.

A lot of big "animator" social media accounts are a team of people

haven't heard of a artist group other than CLAMP

must be living under a rock

oh and this is in regards to random social media accounts i find. for actual published works yeah 80% of the time a whole studio will be involved in the creation of whatever
>>
>>8058091
Not really impact anything I do personally, it just might explain why some (real) artists are able to produce large volumes of finished pieces in a short time period. I'm sure some are upfront about it like >>8058102, but I wouldn't be surprised if some are working this way but don't reveal it. There's nothing wrong with it, but it can set unrealistic standards for individual artists who are unknowingly comparing their output volume to somebody who is actually multiple somebodies working together.

Merryweather Comics is a write and multiple artists and that is kept somewhat understated on purpose.

After trying to animate some bullshit here and there I can confidently say most animators are actually three or five dudes, there's no way you can animate ten minutes of pornography a month on your own while also doing commissions
>>
>>8058135
Yeah, I'd even be suspicious when artists post complex, fully rendered, detailed pieces every few days.
>>
It happens a lot. However, the circumstances in which it happens usually involve outsourcing or scamming. There have been instances in which free lance artists do isolated commissions that then get compiled and credited to some pseudonym or false artist. There are also more modern examples in which people who generate AI content have an artist either alter an asset or have them create something that is then slapped onto a painting to call it "AI assisted" or have the artist's name be used to give it an air of credibility.

In general, it's associated with scamming, deception or low quality work.

More trust worthy examples of this refer to themselves as groups that then give credit to each individual artist.
>>
>>8058202
I think there could also be a softer side of this, where the artists want to farm that parasocial/admiration thing, by appearing as a one man's passion operation that happens to make money from it; presenting as multiple people coming together and splitting profits, more like a studio or "real" business, would break this illusion. I wouldn't qualify it as a scam if they never explicitly say they're just one guy, but they probably know that their clients assume as much.
>>
>>8058186
Does this count? >>8058102
Thats not impossible or unrealistic, matter of fact of thats all an artist did uploading twice a day on most days wouldnt be unrealistic.
>>
>>8058230
A simple bust shot like that, then sure, I guess one or more a day wouldn't be unreasonable. But complex things with multiple characters, complex posing, and full rendering, that's when it starts getting a bit unbelievable that a single artist can maintain quality, speed, and output volume.
That artist collective is very NSFW, but they are producing things a lot more detailed and elaborate than that example piece, at a fairly rapid pace.
>>
>>8058237
And I have no problem with this, of course, just that regular individual artists should keep in mind that while that artist group DOES make it clear they are multiple people working together, there are quite likely other accounts operating similarly which don't make this clear.

Kerascoët is a husband-wife duo.
You can tell who's who though. The husband does the more realistic and architectural shots while the wife draws more whimiscally.

subject matter aside i think the rendering is pretty good, plus they pump this shit out daily in 2-3 week bursts
>>
>>8058237
I know a few people who are able to pump this stuff out on the regular, they make most of their money through youtube thumbnail commissions but they take nsfw comms as well as patreon. And I've seen them work in on stream, the speed is real.

>>
>>8058255
True, though coming up with interesting compositions/posing in perspective can be pretty difficult and mentally taxing, especially if you're trying to produce a lot and not relying heavily on references.
>>

i can understand a rendered work like >>8058250
every couple days if you're doing art as your main thing
but niggas with full time jobs and families while going on vacations releasing shit every day is obviously not just one guy; maybe it's even a full blown studio

The original creator of Is Your Order a Rabbit is actually 2 people. People found out because the head size preference between the two artists is subtle.

Examples? I thought it was an artist/writer duo first when I learned it was two people.
>>
>>8058407
I didn't save the examples the 2channers posted (many years ago) because I thought I would never talk about it and thought no one would care (but apparently OP does) but they looked at Cocoa(s) and with their high cognitive resolution, deduced it was 2 different people because one of them thinks bigger heads are cuter. Also they are both artists and writers, both of them.

There was an artist named Mark Kostabi operating out of NYC. He ran a factory of producing his paintings using hired artists who would paint the canvases based on his compositions and mimicking his style. I met one of the hirelings and there were 5 or so cranking out these " official " works, and even joked about getting the signature accurate to the few real originals they refer to. I suppose its no different from making comics for Marvel or DC, needing their approval and venue to do so at all, since the characters are chained in legalities.
>>
>>8058255
Well they did do the hardest parts. Each artist has their own weaknesses, some cant come up with poses for whatever reason others might etc.
>>
>>8058084
palcomix art looks very different across individual pieces, so this doesn't really surprise me. is there any way to acquire their PNG artworks without using whatever scummy 3rd party payment processor they want me to use?

>>8058091
a lot of commissioners want to support an individual creator, not a studio. i want to know that my work is made by the same person each time i commission. work made by one person is a lot easier to ensure there is no AI slop involved.
