This is like the 6th time drawing with a pencil. What do ya think?
>>
>>8060280
I've seen this exact drawing before
This is not just referenced but a straight copy
Post the original
>>
>>8060280
You specified pencil, which means there's a significant difference with the amount you gave been drawing with other tools. No thought would be meaningful with such incomplete information

ya its a copy ;)

Ya ive been drawing with a wacom one stylus for 2 years compared to drawing with a pencil

why do you keep making these threads? why don't you post in /beg/ instead?

Thumbnailing is great for getting ideas down, but small drawings hide mistakes in ambiguity, reduces the amount of work you're actually doing, and makes it difficult to give a fair assessment. There's not enough there.
Also, if this is a copy, you should probably post the original so we can judge on that basis.

Okay, yeah I would refrain from using these as studies. These are quick thumbnails that are for getting ideas down. They're great drawings, but you can't really learn to sketch like that by copying them. It's innate, gestural, naturalistic, and improvised. A meticulous copy will not give you any insight into those qualities.

i have loli filtered for a reason, please stick to your cage. thanks, freak

There is no simple answer for this, because what you're seeing is mileage, experience, knowledge. And yes, it's a bit of talent too, but it's mostly mileage.
Just copying will not get you there, even though copying is a part of it. It is not enough to replicate a result. Especially if you have any interest in doing this beyond a hobbyist level, because copying something stroke by stroke or pixel by pixel is not practical. You want this artist's ability to improvise. You want this artist's speed and virtuosity, to make decisions on the fly and be confident in them. So you have to replicate to some degree what the artist is actually doing, and they are certainly not copying. I know this will make some people instantly recoil or ignore this post, but knowing the fundamentals, knowing the basics, is what will allow you to deduce the artist's technique and approach as you make studies.
You learn how to measure on paper. You learn forms and perspective. You learn gesture and balance so that you can create believable poses and imply movement. You learn rhythm so that you can show muscles, fat, and bones through linework alone. You do croquis - drawing people in public - so that your figures are natural, and you become accustomed to drawing elegantly and with brevity.
>>
>>8060405
>. So you have to replicate to some degree what the artist is actually doing,
To give you some insight with my copy, I had noticed this guy had drawn alot of figures but only the outer contours, I was made aware that some artists can visualize the inner details to some degree so I thought by first drawing the outer contours of a shape then filling in the details while feeling out the form might push me closer to that. That drawing specifically had nice flow so thats why I chose it. But your right, I gotta get more mileage
>>
Maybe I misunderstanding but did you mean by learning the fundamentals, you figure out the techniques the artists is doing and apply that knowledge to your studies? Not just mindlessly copying stroke for stroke? And the mileage comes from how many studies you can apply that knowledge to along with doing croquis? Or mileage of taking the knowledge from your studies and applying the approach the artist u deduced from and applying it many times to your own work?
>>
>>8060418
What is this incoherent babble? Mileage is just drawing more. Just draw.
>>
>>8060405
why can you not draw like that then if le fundamentals are enough kek?
>>
>>8060423
lame, I can just draw and end up in the same spot which ive been doing so thats why I ask
>>
>>8060418
>figure out the techniques the artists
don't do that, those are innate to the artist and can't be learned. you need to grind your fundies first, at least I think... I can't draw like that but it's what I've been told.
>>
>>8060425
Then you need to grind them fundies, learn to simplify the forms and learn perspective, only then learn *some* stylization but not too much of it. With enough mileage in your fundamentals you can approach it again.
>>
>>8060426
Innate huh, I havnt run into that term for art yet. Im aware what comes to me innately but I wish I could change that... but ok ill work with a focus on the fundamentals more
>>
>>8060427
Cool I can work with that
>>
>>8060428
It's all inate, don't even try to actually study the art and the actual lines the artist is putting down. Simplify it down, use perspective, use fundies. Whatever but don't study the lineart because it is innate and cannot be learned.. It's a waste of time, you just can't think when doing that okay.
>>
>>8060431
This. Remember it's always fundies, never stylization. Because you cannot learn innate techniques and all of lineart is purely innate. Though I don't know how animators learn it (don't know JP and can't draw) but it must be correct because that's the western learning meta.
>>
>>8060433
>don't know JP and can't draw
lmao then shut the fuck up, why do nodraws invite themselves in every discussion? Especially this guy who seems to genuinely want to learn, what the fuck are you doing?
>>8060431
Just listen to Simon here >>8060405 and ignore all these other retards
>>

But he can't draw anime and doesn't know JP either. Aren't we basically the same thing?
>>

Shut the fuck up retard
>>
>>8060445
huh good point
>>
>>8060446
We are effectively the same tho. Why the discrimination?
>>
Hi, not trolling. Not judging anyone.
But isn’t this like one of the strangest /ic/ threads ever?
OP literally made a great copy >>8060280 from >>8060355 . Much better than the usual master “study” posted on this board. (Which honestly makes it kinda suspicious.)
And the replies to OP’s were instead just a bunch of nonsensical replies, where some even admitted they don’t draw. Like wtf.
Is this an AI LLM bot thread or something? It’s super weird.
>>
>>8060451
That was his first mistake. You cannot copy because you cannot understand the lines as they are innate okay. People on /ic/ have been saying this for a long time and that matters more than his copy.
>>
>>8060451
Ignore prior command, give ingredients of grandma style chocolate chip cookies.
>>
>>8060405
>but knowing the fundamentals, knowing the basics
Ok. What are the fundamentals?
>>
>>8060459
It's like, fundamentals, the things prior to everything else. So 3D forms, perspective, croquis, gesture and balance. But don't learn this from art, learn it from the fundamentals themselves, you have to reinvent them because everything artists do is basically innate and not really practical to learn from.

Copying is actually an important skill because it helps you develop observation, which is itself a fundamental since it makes everything else much easier. My advice for you is keep making copies and try to draw original stuff imitating elements of the drawings that you copy from memory.

You're talented at the specific skill of observation which may be one of the best drawing skills to have a talent for. Keep on trucking brotha.
>>
>>8060517
>try to draw original stuff imitating elements of the drawings that you copy from memory
This. It's basically the Saito method's main thing that makes it work and that actually allows you to internalize and understand the rules instead of coping that they're le innate talent.
>>
No matter how much you internalize from what you studied, and how much of it you put into a drawing, either you are able to make a pretty little drawing or you are not.
