That one detail or piece that automatically makes you like a drawing or painting. I will always appreciate tri color/limited color drawings, they just appeal to me so good.
me too. some of my favorite art ever does this, with trad pen & ink, just like in your example.
>>8063867Well-drawn hands and feet. I'm not a fetishist for either but those are the hallmarks of an artist who cares about the craft
>>8063925absolutely thisyugioh has this in spades
>>8063925Well drawn feet are especially hard to find but when it's done well, it's magical
>>8063867red and black is just such a classic combo, not sure why people try really hard to avoid it
when artists are able to draw stylized humans that actually look like they're made of flesh and skin and fat. aesthetically satisfying drapery also rocks>>8063925this as well, especially when an artist can capture the underlying bone structure of the hands without making them look ghoulish or malnourished. i can never seen to get it quite right
>>8063925This, this is the great divider I use when judging someone's artistic meritVery often I will see twittersloppers with thousands upon thousands of followers and they can't draw hands to save their lives, and then I will see someone with less than a thousand followers drawing the sauciest hands and feet you've ever seen
>>8063867Clear shape language. I’m a whore for readable shapes in a drawing
>>8063925100% this too
>>8063867>>8063992i have a few pieces like this
colors in reflections instead of just white or yellow
>>8063992Fun fact, red actually physically jumps out of the page at you compared to other colors because of chromostereopsis. That's one of the reasons Optimus Prime looks so 3d when he jumps out of the screen at you in perspective against a blue sky background. It's a neat tool for character design once you understand it
>>8063867Good stylized anatomyI'm very fond of big head small body drawings as well
>>8064686Where to learn these things, anon?
>>8063867i generally try to work in three shades of color per material plus black lineart, not out of any self-imposed challenge, just easier to work with when you don't know what you're doing. these three shades are pretty easy to hue-shift to create unique-looking variations. here, i made maroon and indigo versions of vehicles this way.right now, i'm working on cargo crates. i need to be able to fit it through 20-pixel doorways, but i may make bigger stuff for bulk freight containers in the primary hold.i'm pretty limited with 16x16 pixels, so i tried to make a "companion cube"-esque box with greeblies on the side for opening the container and interlocking with a skeletal frame.up next, i want to make a cylindrical plasma container with a triangular base / end cap, but i'm not sure if i can accurately depict that with so few pixels.
