You should build up some popularity on social media first. Then let game studios know you are interested in doing art for an NSFW game.Visual novels or full-fledged video games like Summertime Saga require a team to develop. Nobody wants to support solo projects that take six months to release an update anymore.

Darkcookie is a tough example to follow because he was one of the first western devs making long form narrative porn games that he distributed for free in a world of torrenting bad translations of Japanese VNs and western porn games that were zone style flash animations. He also updated the game after release. Added more content, more characters, more scenes, more RPG stuff etc. I wouldn't say the content is particularly well drawn or particularly well written but the fact that he had actually put it out there and was regularly updating it gave him a lot of support. You could attribute the success of creators like Dark Cookie and Akbar to arriving on the ground floor of this particular kind of game but also staying with a community of fans for the duration. Now the market is pretty saturated. I would aim for a successful itch io release rather than a gigantic patreon empire.
