How many artists are using AI now adays to just draw over? I feel like I see alot of artists on twitter that have really awful lineweight, and have a style looks AI adjacent. Usually press on their account to find its like 5 months old
Picrel unrelated, I was gonna post some artists I thought were tracers, but thatd be mean
>>
actually fuck it i will post one guy, pretty certain this guy is an example

>How many artists are using AI now adays to just draw over?
There is a lot of scum.
>>
Why even draw over it? If you want to achieve a certain look, ai can also do that for you.
Why even trace ai and not actual drawings?
>>
>>8069846
could be AI trace.
But I have similar style and I don't use AI.
I just never figured out lineweight, but have middling understanding of anatomy and perspective, so it would look both amateurish and passable at once.
>>
>>8069882
many people want to draw but cant. they must like the input of tracing and coloring and rendering themselves.
unpopular opinion i dont see a problem with it as long as the ai art base isnt blantantly copying a real artists style. it doesnt seem much different to the abundance of artists who trace clip studio head and body models that tell you where everything is.
>>
>>8069844
There are a bunch, but I would call them failed artists. They only care about easy recognition/money. What is funny is that there are some that never were artists and just want to cash out. Their traces are so fucking obvious it hurts.
You can't remove the slop look easily so it's not too hard to find out whether they're tracing.
If you want to know if an artist is tracing or not, link them here and I'll check it out.
>>8069846
He's not tracing, but it does look like he's overly referencing slop. His skill without reference seems piss poor.
>>
>>8069902
>never figured out line weight
make lines thicker towards the viewer and thinner away from the viewer,
make lines thick when they join against another line.
congratulations you have figured out line weight
>>
>>8069902
Lineweight is impossible on cheap screenless tablets, I don't think it proves anything
>>
I think at this point AI is one of those things pros use but Twitter drawfags don't, like tracing, photobashing, using 3D models and the like.

Give it a few years and you'll have AI assisted art be as common as scraping some cosplayers Instagram but right now it's probably something like 2% of Twitter artists and 60 of industry artists.

I've noticed a couple artists very obviously tracing/painting over AI, but not too many. I tend to avoid slop, though.

Even still, a lot of the artists who seemingly don't use AI seem very influenced by AI styles, which isn't any better. But it's nothing new, I guess. Pinterest is the worst thing that has happened to art on the internet.
>>
>>8069846
This is such a wierd fucking image. like why did he leave the opacity layer off on the background?
You're telling me he can chicken scratch a decently proportioned muscle girl but he doesn't know how to use a paint bucket tool to fill in the background?
>>
>>8069844
What's the friggin point of doing this cope? Use a lora and be done with it. You're only wasting your own time "tracing AI" just to feel like you still belong as a manual slave. You either draw or you AI.
>>
>>8069920
lmao do you really believe this? holy cope
>>
>>8069941
But I can't understand why they use it. It's not something they drew if they generated and traced over it. It's not art at all.
>>
Why is this a bad thing? I'm not asking in bad faith. Plenty of artists from the amateurs in the west to pros in Japan and Korea trace over 3D models. They arrange compositions using 3D models instead of imagining perspective and position by themselves. They photobash and copy exactly that. AI referencing/tracing, perhaps only to me seems like the next step on from that. If you have learnt your fundamentals and can draw what you are tracing freehand I see no issue with it provided you are using a mix of LORAs and not stealing someone's exact art style. I know I'm not the only one who feels frustrated with sketching and composition. It's something I can do but I would prefer to skip it to get to what I do enjoy, rendering. It's a tool of efficiency and anti frustration for me to use my own LORA and reference the output. If you are taking payment or chasing clout without disclosing your tracing I agree it's bad but if you're just doing it for fun what's the problem?
I also understand being opposed if you are an artist who values the immense technical skill to get good at the craft, but many digital artists online are not in it as a show of skill they are in it for enjoyment. To draw characters they like, to aid them in making fiction and as something to relax. So many digital artists would be excluded from that definition of artistry because of the amount of shortcuts and " cheats" there are in digital art. So in conclusion I can't understand why people view it as an affront and antithetical to fully human art or art as a whole if you are using it as a base to manually reference, maybe change a bit but do all by hand. It reminds me of traditional artists and their dislike of digital art and what they considered cheating features like eyedrop tools and undo buttons.
>>
>>8069977
Literally me.
Maybe it's time to learn the software instead of "just draw".
>>
>>8069916
You know the version where shadows have the think lines and the parts in direct light had lost libes made more sense to me... yours seems like an idiosyncratic stylistic choice that shouldn't be the mark of good or bad drawing skills.
Also tablet sensitivity is hard to control. Matching line thickness would take hours. Pointless. I'd rather render at that point
>>

Pros don't care about "art"

yet another jeet thread

What do you mean?
>>

IC will become an AI board
>>
Some people see art as just another form of work, using anything they can to make the final product easier. Some see art as something sacred. I remember someone who had to cancel their comic/manga because he was caught tracing REAL PEOPLE, this is purely retarded. Imagine that you need to deliver your product on time but can't use said technique because it would hurt the feelings of social media "artists". This is why most artists are insufferable and aren't taken seriously.
>>
>>8069844
i dont care because i know in a few years when the data centers are destroyed and their ai models and subscriptions can no longer function that they will be exposed as the frauds they are. ai art is a fad that wont exist in a few years.
>>
>>8070288
The flashship models are in China, bro. And then there is local. AI isn't going anywhere. Get used to it.
>>
>>8070292
novelai image gem makes the best ai art right now and they are western. turkish i think. just wait until the bubble bursts and they cant afford the costs of running it or they get sued for training their models on millions of stolen art. those ai models literally let you type in an artist name and copy their style.
>>
>>8070295
Again...there's tons of workflows you can run on your machine or the cloud. You don't need a ((((subscription)))). The only bubble bursting are the people who cope.
>>
>novelai image gem makes the best ai art right
And I also dont agree with that. Dig deeper. Tons of stuff.
>>
>>8070300
the local models are so bad you can easily tell they trace ai. its ones like novelai that are dangerous because the bar is higher.
>>
>>8070304
>the local models are so bad you can easily tell they trace ai

I dunno where you're getting your bias from. Have you seen the NSFW models? You're going to get some minor issues, but that's what inpainting and editing is for. If you expect the AI to do everything for you from the first push of a button and you're not doing diddly squat then, yeah, you'd hold onto this belief. Image creation for AI is just as a skill as anything else.
>>
what's the AI that all the people are supposedly photobashing from? don't say local models, no way all these people are smart enough to do anything but sign up and prompt
>>
>>8070309
stuff i have seen from local models all have that distinctly ai artstyle. ive been fooled multiple times from slop made by novelai where they can use artist tags or mix artists. its blatant theft, i hope they get sued into oblivion.

The bubble bursting means the current economic models won't be manageable anymore. Like the dotcom bubble. I hope you doing your patreon scams now at this moment instead of daydreaming how you'll become a respected one man studio in 2 more weeks.

Wow, you mean the methods people will use for drawing for fun, rather than an optimised method for a corporation, would be different? Shocking!
Next you'll tell me that commerical artists don't get to just draw whatever they want!

>>8070288
Eh, I think it'll be less popular than it is now, but I think it's going to stick around as just another tool. Tonnes of artists photobash and trace, and now there'll just be another cheap cope-out from actually drawing and refining your skills. Let them cognitively offload their artistic skills, it's all the better for us who aren't doing it.

>"Heh, then you'll be left behi-"
Dumbasses, the ENTIRE POINT of AI is that it's easy to use. If needed or wanted, give me thirty minutes, and I could prompt with the best of them. But the difference between us and the Slop ghouls is that we'll still have our artist skills and senses. Gloating about being good at using AI is like gloating about how you can wipe your ass, both are basic brainless things that require no skill.

Never listen to morons on 4chan who are anti-ai. They simply don't understand what's coming to them. In order to understand, you have to dive deep into what it offers. And barely anyone on /ic/ actually does this.
>>
>>8069844
Even people who aren't using AI are still tracing. (ixy)
I genuinely don't understand what the point of doing it is. All they seem to care about is output and money. Yet they choose art, and just trace everything. You'd be better off going into the medical field, entry level jobs pay 2x the cost of living.

you dont think there is going to be massive backlash and lawsuits against the mass theft of art without artists consent for their models? against data centers for environmental theft? against ai as a whole taking jobs and making it so the average person is no longer served ai but slop? people are at their breaking point with this stuff. the bubble will burst and ai "art" will go with it.
>>
>>8070394
>You are displaying how unaware you are about the technology.
Do you think you're a programmer now because you can proompt? lol. Your 'skill' is basic bitch and easy to learn, to the point of not even being a skill at all.

>>8070409
>you dont think there is going to be massive backlash and lawsuits against the mass theft of art without artists consent for their models?
>people are at their breaking point with this stuff. the bubble will burst and ai "art" will go with it.
I'd hope so, but honestly I'm beginning to think it'll never happen. The moment such ludicrous scale IP breaches happened, the AI companies should have been destroyed... and yet, the law seems to be very idle over all of this.
I get the feeling that the technology is so hyped up (as the 'future'), and there is so much money wrapped up in it (to the point it's a danger to the world's economy), that no one knows quite what to do.
>>
You don't care about drawing. You are here shill ai. Do you at least get paid to do this.
>>
>>8070419
>Do you think you're a programmer now because you can proompt?

Never classified myself as. You're just leaking your projected intimidation. I consider myself a >creative<. At the end of the day, a tool is used to usher out the creativity locked within the deepest crevices of ones subconscious. The value of what someone can offer to the world, that creativity, does not end because a pencil/wacom stylus wasn't used to push pixels on a liquid display. Intrinsic value of your creations is challenged by those who feel threatened by progress and those who use AI to bring their creations to life have no business caring about the qualms of a few million.

That graph I showed you? Billions of people. Billions and billions of people don't use AI. That's billions of people who are indifferent. That's my market. That's who I care about to untap and make a name for myself and my projects. Not some goofy ass chuddiute off a BBS board.

If you draw well, paranoid people will claim it’s AI; if you trace over AI, you save yourself time—and, ironically, people assume it isn’t AI.
>>
>>8070409
>theft of art
You're pretty naive if you think the little people actually have rights. Artists are seagulls covered in an oil spill. It's going to happen again, and it's going to keep happening as long as there's money to be made.

>>8070423
As someone who uses AI for programming, it's pretty much the opposite of creative. I use it because I'm really fucking lazy and don't feel like putting effort in. Having an idea isn't creative. Ideas are worthless. Creativity is in the execution, it's the problem-solving process involved with turning an idea into reality with what limited means are available. I'd call the AI itself more creative than someone prompting it.
>>
>>8070434
>it's pretty much the opposite of creative

So basically if you put out a piece of software and I like it but I find that there is a feature that isn't there I can basically ask Codex to implement the feature without your permission. Therefore, I just used my creativity to make your software better for my purposes. I would not call that a "lack of creativity from someone prompting it".

It's like the Japanese who took the toilet and amplified it by a thousand. Same concept.
>>
>>8070256
NTA
They care more about what sells and will do anything to make the ideal desired product that will be bought en masse
>>
>>8069882
AI explicitly generates what you ask for, so you don’t have to settle for copying something you don’t actually want as you might have to do with drawings by real artists.
>>
>>8070437
It's creativity in the way that if I'm hungry, I creatively make the choice to open the fridge. That is to say, not very. Your only creative input here is in choosing Codex to be your tool, and I would consider it a tool. But the tool does the rest of the creativity for you.
>>
>>8070441
>But the tool does the rest of the creativity for you.

I'm using the tool that was created to be a means to an end for a bigger goal. Why are you stuck on the tool being the end goal of one's creativity? If I want to put out animation, the animation is the end product, not the tools that were used to get there which the tools are there to make the process of creation not only quicker but entire pipelines paid out to teams of 100+ consolidated into solo productions.

The only thing stopping someone at that point is their on individual ambition. So I'd say the important thing here is not the tool, but
>do you have anything worth saying
because there are no more excuses left
>>
>>8069844
almost all
>>
>>8070444
>Why are you stuck on the tool being the end goal of one's creativity?
The process is the creative part, full stop. Creativity is the process of creation, not the creation itself. If you click button and get the ends you were looking for that's great, but the ends have nothing to do with creativity. You are not clever simply for using the tool intended for the purpose to do the exact thing it's meant to be used for. And yes, that includes the paintbrush.
