I just started an art account, and have been posting my backlog of comics i never posted outside of 4chan. On reddit theyve been doing well, averaging around 4-5k, but I was getting nothing on twitter.Figured I'd make a fan comic for Merrivius and I saw that the moment he retweeted it, it went from like 3 views, to 6.5k likeshttps://x.com/a2ndsense/status/2114666771676549468Is the best strat just to do fanart for bigger artists, as well as for popular games/ characters? I got a couple of games artists I wanna do art and comics for, and I figure I'll try and post a few of them before returning to the archive comics I have.
basically got a few more pages of comics with this elf gal, and a couple other characters, but I sorta feel like im wasting them if they get no likes when i have no followers
also dam, all my other comics on r/comics did well, but this one got like 18 upvotes. cant tell if its cause of chance, or just cause its shittier than my other comics

>>8070577I've just been calling people slurs and posting "Just Draw" at everyone.
Let's see- cares more about likes than the quality of his art- beginner level artworkDiagnosis: permabeg who will never create beautiful art

>>8070603am i really beginner level? I showed my comics to some pros recently at a comic con this year and they all said my work was solid. Got stuff to improve but they all said its at the "decent enough" stage (As in talking about if i could get puublished they said if I had a good story with the art then yes)Also no I dont really care about likes extraordinarily. I've been a hermit barely sharing my art for years, I just wanna know good ways to grow my accounts. Is it vain to want other people to see your artwork for once?
>>8070604ty anon
>>8070577I don't think retweets do anything anymore. I've been retweeted by big accounts and the impressions don't even budge. If you're NSFW your account is probably not even recommended.
>>8070577Yeah, it's one way. It can give you a bump.People tend to make the mistake of trying to grow social media before their art has anything going for it at all (ie before almost anybody would want to follow them) but this is definitely getting there.Try not to rely too much on it because social media is fickle and you can't guarantee that the subject of your fanart will even see it let alone hit that button, but yes, a bit of fanart once in a while can help you grow an account.
>>8070577the strat is to draw other people's ocs too anonand other popular slop and piggyback off of their fame by establishing friendly relations (friendship)and also appealing to your fanbase
>>8070606Yes, you are beginner. level. Do note that just like online people may talk shit just cuz, so the opposite applies to real life, where a lot of people will have one opinion but prefer to avoid saying it because they don't want to get in a confrontation.
>>8070580it's shittierwork on your comedic timing>but comics don't have timethey have rhythm
>>8070577It's either that or niche fetish porn. My fart fetish art got 300+ likes
you have to ride that wave now and be consistent. you got in, now just dont stop.
>>8070577>Is the best strat just to do fanart for bigger artists, as well as for popular games/ characters?Yes. The entire point of the site is sharing each other's posts, so of course making an image that would get the attention of a bigger account (and reposting it) would be the best play.Just make sure you're making fanart for someone who isn't a massive self absorbed faggot, who DOES actually repost other people's work. Some assholes don't share other's work for a plethora of bullshit reasons, so just treat them in kind and don't engage with them, and definitely don't make them fanart.
>>8070577That and trends, hopefully you drew malfoid when that was hot
>>8071274>>8071252>>8071090>>8070626>>8070621Thanks for all the feedback, I'll probably draw 1-2 fanart/ comic pieces every week of OCs or popular characters and see how that goes. Should be good practise as that was half the reason I started this anyway, I'm mainly working on some comics like the page im doing now in picrel, so that all should be a good change of pace
>>8071097Last few times I posted on /ratings/ I mainly got ints and a few high begs, and the pros I'm talking about were at portfolio reviews so I dont know how much they're gonna lie to me.Probably more of a sign that I'm not putting enough effort into the shit I posted above as it was made pretty quickly, but some of the other stuff I've locked in for people seem to think is ok. Not saying I think I'm a pro, but people generally seem to think I'm decent enough to make it in comics if I make shit like picrel
>>8071627>/ratings/you mean /plg/?anon that thread has people rating without posting their own fucking workit's literally just a trolling hub where one goes to roll the dice and argue about retarded shit that doesn't matter
>>8071627if you can draw like that, why dont you always draw like that?
How would you rate merrivius?
