What's the point in joining the military in countries where you can never be stationed abroad?
>>
People make their own life decisions.
>>
You get paid to do nothing and even secure a lot of benefits
>>

secure job, decent money
plus some people don't want to move far away from home
>>

But what if war breaks out?

imc you don't have a choice. afterwards you can also join to get money, or a (military) education
>>
>>221782566
It depends on the country. Americans who dont want to go to war go to the air force for example. But if you are from a country like Mexico, the military is just a safe job. Not easy or nice, but at least you get to travel across the country

>afterwards you can also join to get money, or a (military) education
is it worth it?
>>
>>221783101
it’s usually the biggest scam ever
>>
Just be perfect.

it's a secure job and ok paid. but if you aren't interested in essentially being a high school teacher it will not be a nice time. you have to want it to enjoy it.
>>
It’s 2026

i stayed at a place called fort Huachuca in Arizona for a year for training, it was really fun honestly, I got to stay in a big hotel the entire time. Lots of Mexicans around, they were always excited to see a Spaniard for some reason whenever I talked to them in a restaurant. Area was great reminded me of home somewhat, it was funny that I went hiking once and saw some illegals crossing. They grouped the international officers together so I had to taxi with an autistic South Korean. a female Qatari, a fat Saudi and a Italian. There were some Germans, but they all stuck together, they were in a different class.

Sounds like the beginning of some joke. What kind of training were you there for, if you don't mind me asking?
>>

some joint civil guard signal stuff. I was honestly surprised by the amount of foreign classmates but I was surprised how many women from Arab countries were there. Majority was European/NATO and the rest were mostly from the Middle East with some Latin Americans

Americans who dont want to go to war join the Coast guard.
>>
>>221784341
coast guard sounds better honestly if you don't look at it like a military service and just sea law enforcement (which it primarily is). You probably see a lot more action boarding drug traffickers, illegals etc
>>
>>221783577
doesn't austria have conscription

we can be stationed overseas Also if you don't join the military you go to prison. This is the punishment you must face just for being born a man in korea. Because being a male in korea is a felony.
>>
>>221786852
what kind of woman voluntary joins the military in korea?
>>
>>221786852
You should move to best korea.

so you don't have to feel like a trespasser every time you leave the base. I doubt the average miltard thinks about that, though.
>>
>>221782566
you go the frontlines
>>
>>221782344
when I deployed to Iraq there was this beautiful iraqi woman working in one of the PX stores. I later learned that she got married to some Captain in a different battalion to get a visa I imagine. foiled again
>>
>>221782566
then you fight like a man

>if you don't join the military you go to prison
tell that to the chaebols
>>
>>221782344
The point is to waste a good year of your youth doing manual labor for the glorious brazilian government while being yelled at and getting paid less than a minimum wage.
>>
>>221788402
i thought you didn't have to do conscription in brazil
>>
why would you even join the military? joining military here means you literally hit rock bottom.
>>
>>221790573
I can understand joining if you are a poorfag, but if you are an european where you get free everything, no point imo
>>
>>221782344
If you join the military here through an officer or NCO academy, you can end up serving in border regions and get an extra pay bonus, about 20% or so. There are even bases in cities where the majority of the population is native. Conscripts/soldiers don’t have that option though since you usually stay in the same unit where you enlisted when you were 17 or 18.
>>
>>221790904
>border regions
sounds terrible though
>>
>>221790806
Many europeans who join the army tend to be neo-nazis
>>
>>221791869
doubt it makes up even 10%
