Why do they love trams so much in Germany?
they're very convenient in big cities, they drive very frequently and you can get in and out of them way more easily than in proper trainsbut I think it's mostly a leftover from 100+ years ago
>>221834834surprised by the small number of trams in northern Europe. I guess undergrounds aren't counted here. Also interesting to see that Italy has so many by comparison. Did not expect that.>>221834980U15 beschte!I love riding the tram when I'm in the city. It's comfy as fuck and you see much of the city.
>>221834834One of the two tram systems we have is fairly new.The other one isn't even worth mentioning.Come to think of it the new one isn't either.I'll shut up then.
>>221834834Red=tramsEastern poland does not like trams
>>221835528And this is the tram in my city
>>221835634That's some pretty good tram porn.
>>221835684Thanks you I made the webm myself
>>221834834i prefer trams over buses because the driver can't be a retard and make me dizzy with sharp turns and it's mostly automatic
>>221834834Because trams is hard job and Germans love work
>>221834834*blocks your path*
>>221834834Why you don't?
>>221834834What about tram trains? We have one commuting between two cities. It is a bit of a gimmick but I like it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLZw2DKBYRs
>>221835917Some backstory on that pic:This is in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. On this street called Claes de Vrieselaan there are tram tracks, but they are not used by any of the regular tram lines. The tram you see there is a heritage tram called the Vierasser ("the four axels") from the 1940s that takes a scenic sightseeing route. It operates during high season at most a few times a day.So the average car driver is hardly even aware of that there's actually a tram going there for tourists, if only once or twice a day. That's a very likely reason why the owner of that oversized mutt truck felt confident in just parking that thing there.
>>221834980>and you can get in and out of them way more easily than in proper trainsAre they free? Because here they are not but the few times i took the tram, i saw people just jumping in and out without paying
I'm surprised how little amount of trams big European countries have. I've even thought it was bigger in my country than the number on the pic.
>>221834834>yet another population mapyawn, do per capita, retard
>>221836730Ah yes. Britain. The country famous of its small population.
>>221834834Obligatory:https://youtu.be/KUBaOJBslXc?si=NK5O2m1n1zGlZ7Ld
>>221836782>t. room temp iq
>>221836953>can't even remember the population statistics of one continent>calls others stupidlmao retard
>>22183695325 IQ?
>>221834834I've never see a tram irl in my cunt
>>221837583you live in the countryside?
>>221837009Room temp in Finland is 130 cus they love sauna o algo.
>>221834834>Why do they love trams so much in Germany?in the 70s, they HATED trams because the car manufacturing lobby lobbied HARD for car-centric cities. many trams were shut down, the rails buried or ripped out of the ground. it was a bloodbath.now they SLOWLY bring trams back, against the will of the stupid angry villagers who are tired of endless road construction.
>>221834834Because we're too poor to build a metro system in every city, so it's trams and busses for plebs
>>221834834>>221834980trams, light rail, whatever... have all kinds of advantages, compared to busseshigher passenger capacityhigher passenger flowless wear and tear on roads and vehiclescleaner (if you didn't have to burn coal and oil for your electricity LMAO stupid germs shut their nuclear plants off!)trams get their own rights of way, less interference with regular car trafficmuch more punctual, thanks to having their own rights of waywith some effort, they can use regular train tracks where available (EBO vs BOStrab)in north america, tram/light rail is a train wreck. intentionally. too many cities fuck it up at every turn. car lobby is big.don't take their failures as proof of anything but their own stupidity.if you want propaganda, check out "notjustbikes" on youtube.
>>221835917driver calls dispatch, dispatch calls tow truck, tow truck is there within 5 minutesdumb fuck who parked wrong is fined up the ass and will never do that again
>>221834834I feel conflicted about trams.Sure they look nice but are they really useful?
>>221834834Ossis put them everywhere, and wessis like them too as a bridge between inter and intra city transport
>>221835528Is blue = former tram system? If so, slubice should open theirs again and connect it to FFO via the bridgeIt's not very practical but cute and sovl
>>221834834UK used to have trams in major cities and they were ripped out after WWII to make way for more cars. Now it's too expensive to put them back
>>221836579Maybe they have monthly ticket? Or paid via an app>>221836782Also, half of those British tram systems barely exist. In London, only Croydon has trams. In Edinburgh (a capital 580k+ city, mind you) there's a single tram live from the airport to the harbour.
>>221836226We have ones like that in my wessi hole! Runs as a pseudo light rail in the suburbs and becomes a tram once it enters the city
>>221842196Vid related: https://youtu.be/Ji3C_PjJonM?is=8wvClucjlI_c03CkUK is the most Americanised country in Europe, I think.
>>221837583Britisher towns luv their cars too much. You guys are like a shitty knock-off of America with all of the downsides of car dependency and none of the upsided
>>221842115Yeah they are. It's literally the best public transport mode, unless your city is really big (over a million) and need to move masses of people via subway / trains.
>>221842280What does a tram do that a bus doesnt you think?
>>221842242UK is safer, cosier with better music, political system and history. People are also lovely and very pleasant to interact with. But yeah it sucks to live in, I imagine. Outside of London I guess. And it got really expensive post-Brexit.
>>221842307Trams don't stuck in traffic and can take more people.
>>221842339>saferlol>cosierlmao>better political system and historyxddddBritain is the only country I've been to so far where I've explicitly been warned not to look "inner city youth" in the eyes lest they stab you lmaoAlso all the cities look like run down shit holes that haven't been renovated or even cleaned in 30 years
>>221842360Why are trams less bad in traffic?
>>221842238>UK is the most Americanised country in Europe, I think.Yeah, UK is basically the USA 1.0
>>221842386Britain has ancient history including Romans and Neolithic gigaconstructions (Stonehenge). Their monarchs are successors, in direct line, of William the Conqueror - a Norman from 11th century. They've got kino moments like Hundred years war, War of the Roses, Tudors, etc. Half of the modern fantasy genre is just rehearsing of British history and culture (Tolkien, Martin, etc.). They literally started the industrial revolution and conquered half of the world. What this 3 person old, former British colony got in comparison? War of independence (France just wanted to screw Brits over). War over black people? History of McDonald corporation? And yes, UK is safer by any metric, comparing to US. America even got more stabbings per capita. Your anecdotal report is laughable if you ever been to Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, Philadelphia or Minneapolis
>>221842454? They just don't drive in the street, for the most part.
>>221842503The most surprising thing for me was that you've got niche American fast food like Shake Shack or 5 guys. The first time I've seen Takis was in UK. Although now they sell Takis in Żabka, so...
>>221834834i love trans :3
>>221842582Thanks bro, we do have some pretty cool history. It's a shame it's history and things are gone down the shitter. Poland is doing much better these days, maybe it's you guys time in the spotlight
In Warsaw, every year we have tram competitions. They play bowling, among other games.
>>221842740We just gonna be (honestly, already are) a decent European country to live. Like a country with solid economy, some innovations and original brands and decent army. That's it, we not gonna conquer half of the Africa or make other countries speak Polish. Like a South Korea, but without the soft power (cuisine, k-pop, movies) or slightly poorer, smaller Germany.Still better than what happen to us in 20th, 19th and 18th centuries.
Bump. Post trams (or trans) from your city
>>221842196manchester has a tram-like system
>>221845101What cities in Hungary (besides Budapest) have trams? Do you have any oldtimers like >>221842782?
>>221845280miskolc, debrecen, szeged + a tram train from szeged to hódmezővásárhely >>221836226i think the miskolc one is the busiest countryside tram system in the countryside because the city is in a valley and the tram line there kind of covers the west-east corridor.
>>221834834Because we have a large number of medium size cities where a subway doesnt make any sense but Trams do
>>221845369as for old trams, budapest has the oldest type with the ganz ics. that is the only tram that is permitted to cross the szabadság bridge due to low axle load. the older tátra trams in szeged and debrecen are much newer, miskolc only has skoda trams that are pretty modern
>>221844838
>>221845864Found a tram scheme.
>>221845907>>221845864This nigga lives in Sperm haha
>>221834834>one tram goes out>entire network is paralyzedBonus points if it's 22:00 and -35C
>>221835917based
>>221845978Sounds like a underdeveloped, shitty system with no parallel lines and alternative roots. Not caused by trams themselves.
>>221841049>>221835917that's gonna cost you couple hundreds euro, broken handbrake and scratches all over your car when it's gonna get towed. And it's gonna get towedPlus wasted time on finding your car, getting the fine paid, and getting to the city guard parking
>>221845953>>221845907Tbh the tram looks nice, but the it's not that a lot of lines for 1M city. Łódź >>221846417 is 500k
>>221846477It's alright. The buses are cheaper than new tram infrastructure. They've only built a one new way since the 00s. Also the area coverage is much larger. It is just simplified on the scheme, to fit all in there.
>>221846570>They've only built a one new way since the 00sOh, ok then. Wish they build couple lines more, then.Warsaw got similar situation with subway, cause first line was only opened in like 95', but they plan to have 5 done by 2050.It's this + some urban overground rail. Plus a lot of trams and buses
>>221842808Warsaw will be hosting the prestigious European Tramdriver Championship this year
>>221835634Biutifel Good on Olsztyn to reactivate its tram, Google says first tram there started to run in 1907 till 1965 and now again since 2015
