>>221868977The entire basis of American Evangelicalism is performance. It's not about the religion, it's about showing off how "faithful" you are to stroke your own ego. Evangelicals have basically turned Christianity into a game where whoever can humiliate themselves the most wins. This is why you see country music stars and celebrity athletes thanking God and Jesus in front of packed stadiums rather than in private prayer. They're not doing it out of genuine devotion to God, they're doing it because they want as many people as possible to perceive them as being devout.
