Why are Euros so shit at making movies is the better question. I think arthouse is the trap that prevents a good film industry. The few Euro films I've liked haven't been pretentious, they've just been about a specific theme that the creator is passionate about.They always seem to fumble blockbusters though. The Fifth Element being one example, and that other Frenchoid Sci-fi with the two love interests that looked like heroin addicted siblings.
