>>221882840>>221885237It kind of makes a lot more sense if you look at it as a colonial empire ruled by Sankt Petersburg rather than a "Russian" Empire, more like a Baltic German Empire rather then "Russia". Russians were one the many nations subjugated by it. It wasn't until WW1 and the first republic when a Russian national sort of existed.
