I feel like the UK and France are much more similar than we like to think, and so are our people.
>>221888121Certainly. And I would include the Netherlands and Belgium as well, I think the northwestern Europeans are reasonably distinct and had similar experiences in industry, colonisation, international trade and so forth in the last few centuries. Not to mention all of the great medieval historical links between France and England (and France and Scotland for that matter).
>>221888244I get to meet many foreigners/expats here in Brittany, many british people, germans, dutch, belgians mostly.I have a hard time going along with germans and dutch, it's hard to describe but I feel like we're just different. The belgians are top tier, litteraly happy french people living in another country, they're the closest to us and it's not even close. But with the british things just go smooth and natural, there's the tongue difference (of course they barely speak french even after living here for 15 years... :^) ), british people are imo very easygoing, they just enjoy the little pleasures of life like we do here.
>>221888328the type of brits that france gets are probably pretty pleasant, places like spain and greece not so much
