ours represents dead sandniggers
>According to legend, the flag was invented by Duke Leopold V of Austria as a consequence of his fighting during the Siege of Acre. After a fierce battle, his white surcoat was completely drenched in blood. When he removed his belt, the cloth beneath remained unstained, revealing the combination of red-white-red. So taken was he by this singular sight that he adopted the colours and scheme as his banner.[2] The incident was documented as early as 1260.

"From a dark past, through the bloody present, Into a golden future." Is one of my favourite representations of the German flag. Although I'm not sure about the "golden future" part anymore. More like "bleak future".
But officially those were the colors of the uniform worn by the Lützowschen Freikorps in the Wars of Liberation against Napoleon and represent the idea of a united Germany.

Purity (white) and sactifice (red).

But it's probably just from an ablino eagle on a generic royal red background (did you know ancient Polamd was a hub for red dye production to the point we have months named after it?)

The flag was created by merging the flags of 3 Croatian regions. The checkerboard coat of arms symbolizes the bulwark of Christendom.

No chance in hell anyone will read all of this, but here it goes.

The colors:
Kingdom of Croatia had a red-white bicolor, Kingdom of Slavonia had a blue-white bicolor, Kingdom of Dalmatia had a blue-yellow bicolor. No one knows the reasons. Eventually Croatia and Slavonia merged, and sort of Dalmatia too, and adopted the red-white-blue, it was during a period when Panslavism was popular with no doubt played a role.

The coat of arms had the "chessboard" pattern that is the oldest known symbol of Kingdom of Croatia (sometimes called Slavonia, sometimes called Dalmatia). The "crown" is composed of five coat of arms represending different regions.

First in the crown representing Croatia proper is actually the coat of arms of Illyria, it is a fictional coat of arms found in medieval heraldy armorials, but mostly with a red background. Sometimes people would just make up medieval coats of arms as a hobby for regions or even ancient individuals (like Alexander and Caesar) and kingdoms. Mistakenly, it has been interpreted as the "oldest known Croatian coat of arms", but this was proven false eventually and the chessboard was proven to be even older anyway. It was used by the Croatian Illyrian Movement as well (South Slavic pan-Slavic movement, predecessor of Yugoslavism), with the blue background. It was found on some old Croatian coins too. Honestly, it feels out of place as it's origin isn't fully clear.

Second one, the red-blue stripes, is the coat of arms of the Republic of Dubrovnik (or Ragusa), theorized to be adopted from the Arpads, it's most commonly depicted as red-white lines, but the designer went with red-blue so it fits the rest of the crown better. So it's not incorrect, but still, the red-white would be better as it was more widespread.

Third one is the coat of arms of Dalmatia, this one is the ACTUAL oldest Croatian coat of arms. Historically, in early medieval times, Croatia and Dalmatia were often synonyms. It was often used with a red background, and sometimes with three human (angels in heraldry) heads instead of lion (leopard in heraldry) heads, or just one lion head, but eventually the blue background with three lions was most common and Dalmatia got differentiated from Croatia (and the symbol was hijacked by Dalmatian Italians too), so it's only associated with Dalmatia now.

Fourth one, the demon goat, is a coat of arms of Istria, origin unkonwn, pretty straight forward.

Fifth one, coat of arms of Slavonia, shows a marten under the morning star between two rivers, I don't really know the background.

In summary, I think we should just have the tricolor with the chessboard pattern and call it a day, the crown is a shitshow.

Pure speculation, really.
