I feel like it would get frustrating if my wife was not so smart. I would want someone I can trust, not just like in that she will act in my interests but that I can trust her to act with some competency. I would like to enjoy spending time with her, talking to her and whatever so if there really was this disconnect, this denseness that prevents that I would get unhappy. I also feel like I have ought to be with someone who is like me in certain ways, that I owe that to women who are similar to me.

It is. Marry a smart woman, married potheads and airheads and it gets annoying as fuck after a while. You want someone who can double your household income, not be another child you have to be responsible for.
Shit gets old FAST. Even if you are a sexual tyrannosaur you'll never spend more than 10% of your waking hours boning. The other 90% gets immensely frustrating.
Also any kids will be half airhead.
