>>221898581It's just a grammatical thing. Grammatical gender doesn't always correspond 1-1 with actual gender and maybe only 5 people have ever used pregnant in a masculine form. But, if you wanted to say "pregnant book", for whatever reason, then book (libro) is a masculine noun, so pregnant would have to take the masculine form (embarazado) to match it. If you had a feminine noun, like table (mesa), though, then you would use the feminine form of pregnant.
