More people would learn more languages easier if people were less autistic about accents. It's why English is so easy for most because even if you speak with an accent no one makes fun of you. Then there's entire languages constructed around tones like Cantonese and no one is learning that, they go straight to Mandarin and even that's tough because they have tones as well. Don't even get me started on Arabic. Japanese is on the not so bad end, it's pretty much only kanji that frustrate people, but they're still picky about accents.

Cantonese is easier than mandarin. "No one" is learning it because Beijing prohibits the teaching of Chinese dialects other than Mandarin, despite Cantonese being spoken by 90 MILLION people around the world. So, it is only learnt orally from parents.
