Even though Spanish and Portuguese look pretty similar in writing, they sound completely different when spoken. In fact, a lot of native speakers can’t really understand conversations in the other language, especially Spanish speakers trying to understand Portuguese. Portuguese has way more sounds, keeps some older language structures that Spanish dropped long ago, and has a totally different rhythm. So people can usually read the other language much more easily than they can understand it spoken.https://youtube.com/watch?v=SBqbPUYegoE
>>221913334I prefer the sound of Brazilian Portuguese. Portugal Portuguese sounds really deep, almost like Russian. Still, it’s not my favorite Romance language
>>221913334All that yapping tp say portuguese (and french) have retarded pronounciation.
>>221913445It's not “retarded pronunciation", Portuguese and French just preserved more sounds while Italian and especially Spanish simplified a lot of them. And they’re foreign languages anyway, you’re not supposed to automatically understand them.
>>221914406It is, most phonetic changes in portuguese are quite recent
