I just found out that Birmingham is Britain's second largest city. I always thought it was Liverpool. Is this the mondolo effect?

London is a combination of 30 neighborhoods that aren't officially part of a city, only two small part are their own cities.

Birmingham is second in population size, which technically makes it Britains second city. But Manchester is Englands second city, Glasgow is Scotlands, Swansea is Wales, and Liverpool is Irelands.

Wrong. Greater London is a combination of the city of London, Westminster, and a dozen other cities, hundreds of towns, and a thousand villages.

>Liverpool is Irelands
are there a lot of irish in l'pool?

Millions of Irish flooded Britain over a millennia. A lot more than the Brits who created the Ulster Plantation and colonised Ireland.
Most of the Irish came in via Liverpool. Especially during the Industrial Revolution. It shaped the culture of the city.
It was a good thing, but it was internal migration. Like two groups of Vikings moving between Sweden and Norway.
Not like parts of London and Birmingham and towns like Bradford and Blackburn.

>second largest city in the UK is 1/15 the size of London
jesus christ

It's a weird place as it has absolutely no attractions whatsoever. Manchester and Liverpool interest me as they have some fascinating early industrial architecture and a distinctive character, though I can see why this is more appealing to domestic tourists. Birmingham, on the other hand, has absolutely nothing worth seeing or doing even for native English visitors. I don't even really know what happens there, only that there are massive populations of Indians and Pakis

Well it is the Original modern Super city.

Not entirely true. Birmingham has things for the English, it's just hidden among a bankrupt decrepit city full of foreigners.
