pretty sure those only exist in america. kids here walk or cycle to school if it's less than 5km. if it's more there is a bus but it's just a normal bus that anyone can hop on. In rural areas with very long distances, they drive minibuses to collect kids or even more rural a taxi. But they are just normal vehicles, not designated school buses

That's too far wtf
>>
there was a minibus that came from the paki area of town to our school and everyone called it the pakivan
>>

Canada as well, than again we're actually the same country
>>
>>221919325
kids either bike, their parents drive them or they take the normal city bus
only the special need kids get their own bus
>>
>>221919325
We had buses like picrel to drive us to gyms in my city because the school i went to didn't have enough of them for all the kids. Does that count?
>>221921000
>only the special need kids get their own bus
also we have those to but they just use vans
>>
Apparently schools don't all have these anymore. Now wagecuck parents are expected to drive their kids to and from school every single day in some districts. https://www.kqed.org/news/11980715/why-dont-more-bay-area-kids-ride-school-buses

They're very soulful. Kids across the world deserve to commute in a massive can full of other kids.

it's not very far at all it only takes like 15-20minutes by bike
I did it myself my in the lower grades my school was only 1km away so I walked (at 7 years old) and the high school was 5km away so I just biked. I do remember taking the bus sometime, we probably got bus cards for the winter I don't quite remember, but the majority of the time we'd bike to school.
>>
>>221921514
What do the roads look like?
And is it still safe for kids to bike to school given that there are many nafris in europe now

yes since if a kid lives in a nearby village there's no other way to get to school if the parents can't drive them
>>

nafris and finns get along well. some might even call them snow nafris

That bus looks quite fancy

When I was a kid I would spend 30 minutes walking to school every day, because my parents chose a school that was some distance away from our apartment.
In Highschool I had to to use public transport for an hour every day to reach school.

There's always a sidewalk to bike on or better yet a cycle path. Idk about nafris, I don't think I have ever met one imc. there's lots of somalis and iraqis though
>>

They're fancy because usually they get used for long distance bus travel

Curious cuz I'm iraqi myself and can't imagine them doing that

When I was older I would always go on foot to my school which was 6-7 kilometers through hills

In my country these are mostly for people from smaller towns and rural areas going to school in another city. Not so much for people living in the cities

Walking sounds dangerous. I mean what's stopping some psycho creep from running up to a kid walking to school and kidnapping them?
>>
>>221919325
We have a state company called Volánbusz with a 6000 bus fleet that provides transportation between the "suburbs" and the city, also buses in cities that are not large enough to have their own bus company and transportation between cities (mostly Budapest) that do not have a "good" rail connection. Because of this we are one of the few countries in the EU where bus travel (outside city buses) has more passengers than rail travel (majority of rail traffic in the country is mostly between Budapest and the suburbs and a couple of other cities that have decent rail connection)
The high school I went to had a lot of people using these to commute from the village
>>
>>221919325
besides getting to school, how are euro kids transported to sporting events/field trips? public transport?

Me and the rest of the kids on our football and hockey team cycled/walked depending on the distance.
>>
>>221924027
Field trips were (and still are as far as I know) done on rented buses designed just for field trips.
>>
>>221924099
interesting
i imagine your high schools are much closer to each other. the nearest one to mine was five miles away and that was only 1-2 tournaments a year
sometimes we even had to spend the night in the other school's gym

Kids would either be take to school by their parents when they are young or get into one of these vans. Later when they can take care of themselves they either take a normal bus, walk, bike or their parents keep paying for these vans. If they live in rural areas is either the van or a wagon pulled by a horse, they may also use bikes or a horse if they have money.
>>
>>221924232
Our tournaments were always held at the local public sports hall/ice rink, not in any of the schools because we don't have school sports teams.
It's something we do after school, completely separate.
>>
>>221919325
lol no? we got public transport. in my bumfuck hickville, school and public transport bus was the same, think it still is.
>>
>>221924027
by upper class rental busses or parents driving them.
>>
>>221919325
When I was growing up
>kids walk to a designated bus stop
Now, on my way to work one bus makes 5 stops on one road with kids standing in their yard or in winter, I've seen parents SITTING IN THEIR RUNNING VEHICLE WITH THE CHILD WHO THEN GETS ON THE BUS
There's one spot where there are 3-4 boys who gather, but then 50 feet down the street is some little muslim girl who can't walk to the stop and forces the bus to pick her up by herself.
>>
>>221924291
that's kind of lame. school rivalry and pride was fun

we had these bad boys when I was a wee lad, i dunno about nowadays but i think i've seen them in here lololo

wrestling tournaments are often all of two days long. doesn't make sense to leave if the bus ride was five hours long, you just bring sleeping bags and they leave the mats out for you so it's not uncomfortable at all
>>
>>221919325
Kids are responsible for getting themselves to school. I used to walk 3km to school in a blizzard in the December darkand the teacher would write me down as late for arriving 5mins late.
>>
>>221924759
>Sleeping on the sweaty germy wrestling mats and not showering
That sounds gross

>>221924768
>and the teacher would write me down as late for arriving 5mins late.

>>
>>221924792
we were obsessive about sterilizing mats and showering since it is all over if one of you gets ringworm
it's better than getting humped into it in a singlet
>>
>>221924816
>it's better than getting humped into it in a singlet
