Oh no my germanic language has been tainted by... ANOTHER GERMANIC LANGUAGE.

Could have even used romance derived common terms, but I think 2 of the ones you mentioned are germanic, and one is unknown but might be an initialism.

that is just plain wrong. if they didn't have the foundation from 4th grade onward they couldn't learn english from the "internet". i played a lot of gta on my ps2 in english and didn't know shit about what they were saying until i learned a bit of it in school. that got it all started.

That's doesn't disprove that Internet exposure is what really teaches you. Learning grammar like that without the massive input you get from English media is virtually useless.
Like everyone in Australia "learns" Japanese or Chinese or whatnot in school but since we never expose ourselves to content from those languages continuously it's all for naught and dissipates over time. Your 4th grade English grammar would also have atrophied and been useless if you hadn't kept using English outside the classroom.

it does disprove everything you said because without the foundation that the school has put in place english media is just noise to someone. it has no structure, no rhyme and no rhythm. just a wall of sound. that is why you start with the fundamentals first. if you don't have the fundamentals from somewhere you can't make sense of the rest.
