American-style discussion has overtaken my country's political online discourse. Youtube channels are running independent propaganda outlets and outrage baiting. Unbiased pundits are met with shrill toxicity by the current ruling party's cult of personality every time they give the most lukewarm criticism but are showered in engagement and positivity when they blindly praise everything our jewish (but somehow anti zionist) president does. This is the first step to the destruction of discourse. Is it happening in your country too? Did people abandon discourse in favor for stimulating their lizard brain?

I get the impression that Euros still think it's Bill O'Reily when in my experience US media has been satiric or cynical with little in between. Stuff like South Park or KOTH were more normative than outliers and this only ramped into the 2000s. It's interesting how the US outrage baits itself yet romanticises the rest of the world. It used to be Scandinavia, but now it's more SK/Japan. I fail to see a difference between mindless cynicism and mindless romanticism, I can't say this kind of reaction kills discourse but it does create a feedback loop for it.

If I go on any social media outlet now I'll never find a single positive comment about zionism or evangelicism. >>221924521I don't think that's an answerable question, the only people in latam that would be aware of those specific people is people who study politics or young-ish (relatively) people who grew up on the internet and are very aware of US politics. The type of person in latam that gets the social commentary in south park, as you mention, or any other show where you need american political literacy to understand the jokes therein. Because knowledge of american politics is communicated on a meta-level rather than directly fed from lived in experience in america, their political narrative about the US is seen zoomed-out, so propaganda wouldn't work. I can only assume people in latam (generally) would see US propagandists as quaint or as showmen if not outright evil depending on their specific propaganda piece if they're advocating for foreign invasion or justifying xyz death or tragedy
