>Long grammar guides like this one should be used like dictionaries. If you're a beginner, you don't want to rely on them as your primary grammar guide. Instead, read one of the recommended grammar guides and refer to this page to look up individual grammar points on a case-by-case basis. Why is it so hard to find anything for Japanese that treats me like a fucking adult and just presents things systematically? My Latin education wasn’t like this at all and the grammar is way more irregular and sprawling in that language. No language on Earth has such a complicated core grammar that its rules can’t be taught systematically in a reasonable amount of pages. Only Japanese seems so insistent on atomizing every single end-product usage and teaching them piecemeal instead of teaching the underlying rules that produce the outcome. “Grammar points” what a fucking joke. I’ve looked so long to find something that shows some actual tables and explains the agglutinative grammar of the language in a straightforward way that I want to tear my hair out.

>>221943444>I’ve looked so long to find something that shows some actual tables and explains the agglutinative grammar of the language in a straightforward way that I want to tear my hair out.maybe this helps youhttps://imabi.org/ichidan-verbs%e3%80%80%e4%b8%80%e6%ae%b5%e6%b4%bb%e7%94%a8%e5%8b%95%e8%a9%9e/I think it's hard to explain how conjugation works in Japanese because you basically need to be familiar with other particles and how they change the meaning of a verb/sentence when attached, but you see it frequently in grammar guides which themselves are in Japanese https://www.kokugobunpou.com/用言/動詞-1-性質と働き/#gsc.tab=0basically verbs and some particles need to be conjugated to be "agglutinative". There are two sets of verbs which conjugate differently (一段 and 五段 for how many vowels they can end on), and the different kinds of conjugation attach to specific particles or grammar objects. The most important and distinct kinds of conjugation are 連用形 (continuative form) which attaches a verb to another verb, and 未然形 (irrealis form) which attaches to negative and passive particles. I may not have explained it well but just keep on reading and when you revisit how it works in the future it's very intuitive.
>>221946506>you see it frequently in grammar guides which themselves are in JapaneseBecause it’s important and native speakers don’t infantilize it. I’m aware of the basics like ichidan and godan I’m just annoyed that I’ve only seen something halfway approaching a conjugation table like picrel in a fucking cure dolly video.
>>221946506>>221949264Thanks for the response btw. It’s just that I can find and have created comprehensive rules for conjugation of regular verbs that fit on a single page, for every regular verb in the language, and I can’t find hardly anything like this for Japanese even though I know it is a less complicated and irregular system than Latin.
