>Over 500 people have applied for this one position
WTF is the point anymore? Are we just all going to be homeless? Even if you do make it to the interviews it’s extremely humiliating.

the future is freelance and contract i guess. Job rotates faster so that everyone got their cakes

Mostly bots and it just counts the people who looked or pressed apply but didn't actually apply. Real number is 5-10% of that.

This is common boomer advice. Is it actually true?
>>
>>222028618
from what I've heard everything is online these days, people don't even accept resumes in person anymore
Though I still don't think it's bad advice, but apparently it is

I dont know recruiters call me to offer jobs but it may work. What do you have to lose anyway? Just march in there, slamming fist on their table, GIVE ME A JOB YOU BASTARD

no, people will get annoyed with you if you do that
>>
>>222028486
You gotta start caming to every stablishment and ask if they are hiring
>>
>>222028486
At least half of those people apply without even checking the description of the job and whether they even fit the basic criteria. Tons of jobs in IT now for example require a degree so they can filter out a huge chunk of candidates more easily, and despite that, a lot of people without degrees keep applying

Internet anonymity is a blessing. Some of us are brown/black, some of us are visibly disabled, some of use have accents that arent't exactly appealing, some of us may not have that "middle class and up" aura, and some of us are just plain fucking ugly. So with online applications being a thing, those who fit in any combination of what I stated above don't have to deal people being judgemental cunts or tossing your CV out the minute you turn around. There's a layer of protection in other words.

My boss told me he just did a round of interviews
He said HR forced him to interview the most qualified
He said they all lied on their resume except one guy
He said the one guy is mid with potential, so he’s hiring him
>>
>>222028486
In the trades you just call the boss man and ask if he needs people. He’s usually nice enough to at least give you some leads
>>
funnily enough i implemented that feature when i worked at linkedin
