Would you die for your country?
>>
What was criteria for a suitable target?
How many kamikaze missions were there actually? I was under the impression that kamikaze were less planned and more of a contingent strategy where they saw no means of victory and faced with certain death anyways so they said fuck it.
I know suicide bombing is a thing, but I kinda thought maybe they were smarter than that...
>>
>>222118442
Even disregarding ethics Kamikaze just seems inefficient as fuck when you consider the costs of the plane and pilot training and education compared to bombs.

>I was under the impression that kamikaze were less planned and more of a contingent strategy where they saw no means of victory and faced with certain death anyways so they said fuck it
This was the case until 1944. After that it was an official policy and tactic that in a cynical way actually made sense. At that point the US Navy had total air superiority, so in 90% of cases you wouldnt come back from a mission either way, so might aswell just go all in and deal maximum damage.
>>
>>222121226
some targets like AA batteries and different naval targets like a destroyer are definetly worth a trained pilot and an airplane either because of asymetric cost or simple tactic advantage

Oh.
Interesting, I guess.
>>
>>222121069
3800 kamikaze pilots died to kill 7000 allied soldiers or more importantly to take carriers and ships out of action. The japanese Zero was useless at the end of the war so it wasn't a terrible strategy, it was just a pointless waste of life when they had already lost
>>
>>222118442
Fuck no. Canada has failed us and it was never a real country to begin with.

The only way I fight is in the extremely unlikely event that the enemy comes here. And I wont be doing that for my country, I will do it to protect my property and the few people I care about.
>>
hell no
>get one life
>die for a country that ultimately never did nor ever will care for you
in the end, you just hop a border and life's the same
>>
>>222118442
Yes
>>
>>222121226
In fact, kamikaze were extremely effective. Pilots in WW2 were already a forlorn hope, with a higher mortality rate than any other branch of the army. With kamikaze tactics, even a small group of warplanes could inflict significant damage on an enemy fleet. Considering that by the end of the war japanese warplanes were hopelessly outdated and could not compete properly with the new american ones, it was better to use them as manned missiles than to conventionally try to take out enemy warplanes and drop bombs on ships.

Yeah, if they used Kamikadze en mass in 1941/42, Pacific theater perhaps would have looked very different to what it was in our timeliness

russian federation

Maybe but they didn't have that many planes early in the war, in 1944 they had 100x more planes but no skilled pilots

Japanese planes were made of paper and all of their experienced pilots were dead by 1944 so they just sent you against an American carrier group with a few hours of training under your belt
>>
>>222118442
No, and the reason is that I most likely won't have any offspring so I don't have nothing to die for, if Serbia gets invaded I will avoid draft and I don't give a shit who invades it, I am not losing my life just so some fucking normie regular sex-haver will survive and get to spread his normie genes, I don't give a shit, let him go and die, I have nothing to give back to "society"
>>
I was close enough to die for my country so I guess the answer is yes.
>>
Hell no, the country serves me, i dont serve it
>>
I wouldn't even devote a saturday afternoon for this place, let alone die for it. If shit ever gets real I'm out of here
>>
>>222118442
Very unlikely, and if I am forced to, then it will be for my loved ones.

War is le based and redpilled until it's time to be sent to the battlefield.
>>
In my country, you can be sent to jail for over 30 years if you fail to report for conscription, so I don't have a choice.

Do americans have mandatory cinscription?

Why do you think there were so many protests during Vietnam and the Iraq War? College students were being sent straight into the meatgrinder.

at that point your choice comes down to what you want to go to prison for:
Refusing to die for your enemies, or killing your enemies.

College students weren't sent. People went to college to avoid the draft.

On the list of people who need to die for my country first, it goes something like

>foreign politicians, businessmen, those that have wikipedia entries, that will profit from the war
>local politicians that will profit from it or were too incompetent to avoid war
>>>>>>>>>power gap>>>>>>>>>
>american troops, because realistically speaking they will die first even if my cuntry joins them in some stupid war

I'd rather kill for my country than be killed, but if need be I will hold my designated position and die in it as ordered. Come tanks, drones, gas or nukes it doesn't matter.

>>222131246
what if finland were 50% non-european (muslims, blacks, indians), would you still care to fight for it?
>>
>>222118442
Lmao no. We saw what happened in WW2 and didn't even agree on our national anthem, some poolitican decided it for us, and even then the word "young" got changed to "one" because it offended abos, thereby neglecting the future.
>>
>>222118442
rather not but i would kill for it.
throgh history, pow's have been threated quite differently among different enemies. the "west" has usually been kind to them, but jap propaganda told them they where butchered and tortured, so they rather kamikaze or sudoku than surrender.
my grandpa was one of the guys fighting germany in 1940, they fought hard but eventually had to surrender. he was pow for a month or so then a letter arrived from berlin saying "brave aryan men defending their homeland should not be held captive" signed hitler. in the same camp was loads of slav pow's they all died doing slave work.

In this fictional scenario, the Finland of today would no longer exist. I mean that it would be a different state entity. There would maybe be some other state entity with the same borders and flag which would call itself Finland as well but it would fundamentally be a different state entity alltogether. The Finland of today is inherently tied to the principle of national sovereignty of the finnish people, and if (ethnic)foreigners held the majority of political power, Finland would LITERALLY not be a sovereign nation. So to answer your question; at that point Finland (as an independent sovereign nation) would not exist, so I couldn't fight for it. I could only fight for it in terms of gaining independence. With this latter definition I would.
