Is he respected? Or is he seen as some weird homosexual with bizzare ideas?
>>
in most cases it’s the latter, even nationalists either mock him or couldn’t care less
>>
>>222191198
It's crazy to think he's directly related to Tokugawa, he's the nepobaby to end all nepobabies. He would have been in line to be shogun if the Boshin War never happened. The Tokugawa family had a lot of antiquated holdover warrior bonding rituals, Tokugawa Iemitsu for instance was exclusively homosexual and had to be forced to procreate with a woman.

Who is he? Is he a former baseball player?

>>222191198
They probably don't know who he is o algo

asking japs about this guy is the equivalent of asking jews about palestine

It's like how communists worship Che Guevara but Argentinians themselves are mostly indifferent to him

nigga was married with kids tho
i think conversations with a mask is not actually about homosexuality and it's used only as a pretext but most people that read it can only relate to the faggot part
>>
>>222192432
>having kids means you're not gay
Holy cope, he was an aristocrat that was forced into an arranged marriage.
>>
>>222192492
How did he have kids then if he couldn't get it up for a woman?
>>
>>222192492
nigga was unloading trucks before becoming a writer. the family just knew a guy and the marriage was not arranged he had no titles

The guy was a noble bloodline aristocrat and his dad was a high ranking bureaucrat, you could not find someone with a more privileged birth than him. He also frequented gay bars and wrote an entire book about being gay called Forbidden Colors. I'm unfortunate enough to have been on this website long enough before gamegate and weebs would openly brag about him being gay, then after /pol/ took over they tried to retcon it or suddenly started hating Mishima.
>>
>>222191198
From what I heard the letter. These ideas are probably just as much of an edgy curiosity as the ones we come across in literature class at school, just to shock our teachers
>>
>>222191286
I feel bad for him. He had this idea of how japan should be without american influence but he was living in an echo chamber of a few guys who agreed with him so when the day came the soldiers (who you might think would be right wing) rejected him utterly
>>

Seems like you could pretty easily

>What I find most offensive is the thinking of civilisation and Enlightenment that lurks among bureaucrats, etc., and the foolish way of thinking that during the Olympics tried to close Turkish baths, because foreigners find them embarrassing, and ban the operation of brothels past midnight in order to make Tokyo look like a clean metropolis. So long as this way of thinking remains, Japanese will never be able to become natural Japanese"
Asking for a Japan without western influence is a monkey's paw wish for chuds.

Fascism-nazism have always been queer-coded. It wasn't always pure geyness and definitely wasn't a modern lgbt-slop, but the line between friendship (philia) and love (eros) was blurred in a few places.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yukio_Mishima
>Mishima's early childhood was dominated by the presence of his grandmother, Natsuko, who took the boy and separated him from his immediate family for several years.[32] She was the granddaughter of Matsudaira Yoritaka, the daimyō of Shishido
>Azusa Hiraoka (Mishima's father) was a government official and a high-ranking bureaucrat. He served as a senior official in the Ministry of Agriculture and Commerce
His grandfather was also a high ranking bureaucrat according to this article.

Also aside from it being a common theme in his books his friend Jiro Fukushima writes about it in Yukio Mishima: Sword and Winter Red. They were butt buddies, there's also letters between the two about it. If a first hand account from a close friend isn't enough for you nothing is.

I know some schools use his writing in for literature classes and one of my teachers said he was her favorite writer. I don’t think he’s really taken seriously for politics though anymore. Maybe seen as a tragic weirdo. As for being gay, I haven’t really heard it mentioned that much. I don’t think people care so much about that.

>5 generations between him and a royal family
>3 generations of which were passed by women
>no trace of him frequenting gay bars
so he was not a noble bloodline aristocrat and he also did not frequent gay bars, got it.
he's gay because university students like to make it gay just as they like to make nietzsche a repressed homosexual
>>
>>222193583
He's plain straight gay, dude.

not a homophobe or anything but no one has given me proof yet besides talking about it. it feels like yet another shallow attempt of modern society to understand what they can't. happened with nietzsche too, thanks to Jung et co.

5 generations? Did you read? His grandmother from his paternal side was related to a daimyo and she basically raised him. Also in addition to Forbidden Colors being about a closeted man forced into a marriage he hated who goes into underground gay bars, he would exchange letters with his friend (who he had sex with) about going to gay bars. Like what more do you even want? Believe what you want, whatever makes you happy, there's no evidence that will sway you.
>>
>>222193771
>Did you read?
it says that the grandmother was the grandaughter of a daimyo so there's a pretty big distance. also, noble bloodline is paternal so he's not recognized as noble and his marriage was never arranged.
>he would exchange letters with his friend (who he had sex with) about going to gay bars
source
>>
>>222191198
They're still in denial about him being gay
>>
>>222193824
I told you the source for the gay bars before it's from a memoir called Yukio Mishima: Sword and Winter Red by Juro Fukushima. The two exchanged letters that's the source. In regards to his lineage the article even says he's related to Tokugawa, the guy literally attended a school for peerage like the rest of the Meiji aristocracy.

https://www.britannica.com/biography/Yukio-Mishima
>Mishima was the son of a high civil servant and attended the aristocratic Peers School in Tokyo. During World War II, having failed to qualify physically for military service

Like they couldn't spell it out for you any more clearly. Mishima writing letters about going to bars with a guy they both admit to having relations with, and him being related to the highest nobility and going to a Peers School.

Actual takeshi here.
Gay aside, I don't get him
He committed that crime because he longed to die by seppuku like a samurai imo
For some reason, novelists back then seemed to be prone to suicide.

And yet look how much we truly broke them. Two atomic and worse, the rejection of 2605 years of history. The bitterness is observable and given to others as cause to not fully trust the US. Too much or too little, still too early to say. He was the last of a relic culture.

he was born in that world though, he just refused to change with everyone else

He straight up dodged the draft for the military then expected a radical military coup. The guy was buff and in his prime during WW2 how he wasn't considered eligible for the military is a complete mystery, he had a god-like physique.

They had homosexuality in Tokugawa Japan? I mean I'm not asking about the preference for men but the cultural concept of homosexuality
